Hey everybody, happy Fatherā€™s Day! I am new to the off road world. My lack of experience has definitely kept me from venturing out on the trails. I am going to be near Drummund Island next week and am looking for some recommendations. Do you guys feel I would be able to navigate the trails or would I be in over my head? I would have my wife and kids with me and wouldnā€™t want anything too challenging. Any feedback would really be appreciated!

My GF and I got around Drummond Island pretty easily solo. Just choose your trails correctly based on skill level. You can have a lot of fun there without the need for a support group. I have plenty of our Drummond Island drive in this video and you can see what we experienced.
I say go for it!
FYI...I am NOT an "experienced" off-roader.

I absolutely love Drummond and we have spent a lot of time there over the years. It is definitely possible to explore without going into some of the more aggressive areas. Fossil Ledges was a great suggestion for a nice ride out to a beautiful location - it is one of my favorite places to visit. I would also recommend stopping in at the Visitors Center at Four Corners - it is across from the grocery store and next to the TeePee ice cream stand. You can get maps there and I'm sure that they could give you some good suggestions of places to go where you will stay out of trouble. And plan on joining up with a club visit in the future - we love to share one of our favorite off road destinations!

If anyone is interested in purchasing my OEM 2023 4 door Bronco soft top please let me know. I had it on for 24 hours and decided Iā€™d rather just keep the hardtop on! Iā€™m in the northern suburbs of Detroit if you want to come pick it up.

Iā€™m still trying to figure out the market for this item. Iā€™m willing to listen to a reasonable offer. If you make me a fair offer and can come get it decently quick I think we can make a deal.

$2,250 for the soft top.

I think I posted this, but B6g isn't easy to look backwards in the Clubs pages. We are having an fun event with Ford Performance at Holly Oaks Saturday, June 17th. There will be a bunch of Ford Performance team members, some Raptors (Bronco, Ranger, F150R and maybe more.....). We are getting together around 10AM and riding to about 2 or so? If you haven't been out before, come a few minutes early if you need help with flags, radios, whatever. We will be on channel 17 FRS/GMRS.

Here is the link on the MIBC forum. https://forums.michiganbroncos.club/thread-16.html

Headed out with my sons for our first trip to Holly Oaks on Saturday. This will be the shakedown run for me (as a novice with more experience driving snowmobiles/SxS), AND our 2023 Bronco Base non-sas!

Weā€™re going to need a flag since the one we ordered wonā€™t be here until next week. But other than that, weā€™re good to go and glad to know we might see some other Broncos.

Weā€™d be very appreciative if anyone wants to show us around the milder trails and take it up incrementally from there. Super stoked to see what our Bronco can do but donā€™t want to bite off more than we can chew.

There will be a bunch of "newbies". My son is taking his FX4 Ranger for the first time! My suggestion, get to the park a bit early, hang out and find others looking to do some of the moderate stuff. We will have people at different features spotting at various times, so keep your FRS/GMRS radio on and on channel 7 to listen to spotters and call if you need any assistance.

There should be a bunch of us out there who you can tag along with, all the people in the group are quite supportive. You will amazed at how capable the Bronco is...

I posted this in the Broncos for sale tab, not sure how it shows up. So, I'll post in here as well. Remove if not allowed.

I have a 23' WT 354A 2 door available for sale here at the dealership. New. MSRP +$1716 for 5 year ceramic/ leather protection and diamond fusion windshield protection. $64,401 +ttl

My GM will most likely do A/Z plan plus the protections. Let me know if anyone is interested! He is tired of looking at it on the lot!

Update on "Bronco the Mac" OK, we got some additional info. There are not really any rides planned by the organizer. We will help coordinate one local "on-road" tour for Saturday. The MIBC is also organizing a "easy" trial ride for Friday after the bridge crossing and we will have a special area designated for the club to get together for the supplied dinner Friday night. Saturday we are organizing a couple of trail rides (moderate and advanced) but we will hit our limits of participants pretty quick if we don't have additional trail leader volunteers. We will have a pre-meeting June 1st at 7PM via Zoom. And and agenda will be finalized prior to that meeting. https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81420610369?pwd=Y1hkZWdBanlYUHNUVkcvZ09pbTNoQT09

Put about 1,200 miles on this past weekend starting in TC, headed to the far side of the UP and back home to TC. Camped in four different locations starting in Ironwood and each day headed a little east until our last night in Marquette. The bugs in the Western UP were the worst I have ever experienced (I worked for the FS in Ironwood for a few years and never experienced this level) so we did more driving than hiking. All around it was a great trip and I always highly recommend the Ottawa National forest of you are looking for something with very few people and lots of waterfalls.

Hello! Just joined the group and I'm looking for some advice on taking my bronco to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes for the first time next month. I have a stock 2 door Big Bend and I'm wondering if the stock tires can handle the sand with an air down to around 15-18psi. Also I'd like to avoid breaking anything as this is my daily driver and I love it lol. Any advice will help

I definitely agree on the tie rods. No issues on the dunes. Most that are breaking are in rocks with 37s or larger. I have been with 100s of Broncos off road for probably thousands of miles now with no issues. The most common problem is running high speed through water and mud and taking out an alternator. I would never recommend doing that with any vehicle, but I have now seen two or three fail from high speed water intrusion. If you go throw water, stay below the maximum fording depth and build a bow wake vs. charging through and forcing water into the engine bay.

@Mattwings thanks for the info! Iā€™ve watched a lot of instructional videos on YouTube by overland bound and he taught the same thing. I also learned from watching my buddy ruin his Jeep commanderā€™s engine by going into a window deep puddle at a construction site super fast, he hit the water was stopped and had water rush up his exhaust. I for sure will avoid water like a plague lol

Thanks! For sure wonā€™t be putting it off, this is one of the places I really wanted to go while I was waiting for the bronco. Hopefully the sand doesnā€™t cause any issues, people warn me sand is bad for vehicles
Mattwings
Mattwings
Taking your vehicle off road accelerates wear and requires some extra care and maintenance. Definitely be ready to spray everything down and rinse off as much of the sand as possible. Itā€™s even worthwhile to pull your wheels and skid plates on occasion and get everything rinsed off. These day all the seals and suspension parts are fairly well sealed, but sand is definitely abrasive!
Hey everyone, i found a bronco that is a dealership order and it has a build date of 5/17/23 and i was wondering for those who received their broncos already in Michigan, how soon after your build date did you receive your bronco? I was thinking since we are close to the factory, they would show up a lot faster to dealership. Please let me know if you remember.

Best beginner trails in SE MI?

Iā€™m in the WB area and I want to go on some off road trails that are more beginner level. Iā€™ve downloaded the bronco trail app but it looks like almost all the trails in the state are at a 3/3 difficulty. Anything nearby thatā€™s not listed on the app or listed on a different app/ website?

I forgot to mention, almost none of the trails in MI are super difficult unless there is snow or an extreme amount of water. Not that you should take them lightly or go alone, but most any Bronco is capable of 90%of the trails. Drummond Island being a consistent exception.

Lovely! I have no real off-roading experience so I wanted to spend this summer trying it out and feeling it out. Iā€™m also heading up to the Keweenaw peninsula later this summer and was worried that I wouldnā€™t be able to test it out.

Iā€™m not familiar with the UP from a full size vehicle perspective. I would add a dose of caution, as you get pretty remote, pretty quickly in the UP. Still likely to make most any of the established 72ā€ routes.

I wanted to let everyone know, we will be joined by Ford Perfomance, Saturday, June 17th at Holly Oaks off road park. They will be bringing a host of Raptors (Bronco, F150, maybe Ranger) to do ride alongs, get feedback and do some trails with club members. It should be a pretty fun day! They are (and have been) supportive of our club and interested to get our feedback in a real life situation. We are planning to meet up at 10:30 in the parking lot and hit the trails for a few hours. Let me know if you have any questions.

Does anyone have recommendations for 4x4 shops in SE MI? I had a local (non-4x4) shop install Bilstein 5100s on my F150 a few years ago, and it was kind of a painful experience. It would be great to find a place where that sort of thing is their bread and butter.

JoeZ Garage did the lift on my Bronco. He did a great job. He has done work on our Jeeps in the past. There are very few people that we have work on our vehicles if my husband canā€™t do it himself and he is one. He works out of his own place in Chesaning.

Unlimited Off Road Centers in Fenton has been supportive of the club, but I have not had direct experience with them. Our contact has been Clint Lamrouex his # is 810.936.7000 Ext 205. Just tell him you are a member and that Matt referred you, if you want to check them out. I have seen the work done to HokieinMI's Bronco and know Matt and Susie, if they like his work, it is done well, so JoeZ would be my first suggestion.

I am looking to make an event in the Cedar Springs area. The owners of "Pour Michigan Wine Barn" want to host an event for broncos similar to jeep days. This is a winery that serves a variety of Michigan-only wines and has food trucks often for events. I am looking to find a way to start this event and find who I need to contact to get this started. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

So . . . . . I've heard only 10% of the new orders that are being built for the 2023 MY are going to be 2-Door but what the hell, I did put my order in yesterday for a 2 Door Black Diamond so we shall see. IF (and to me that is a very big if) it gets built I would figure near the end of the MY.

I looked at a bunch and there are some small differences, the DV8s struck my fancy and they were cheap as a bonus šŸ˜‰

Can confirm, got a scrape on my right rear shock plate. My ASFIR frame support arm skid plates are on the way (I have actual dents on the arms). My list is: ASFIR lower front arms protector (SKU 599657), ASFIR Gear crossmember protector (SKU 599662), ASFIR trailing arm protector (SKU 599658), DV8 Rear shock plates (SKU SPBR-04), DV8 Rear diff skid plate (SKU SPBR-03).

Link to thread on the arm damage (also neat is that Flip posted the raptor skid P/N that apparently also works on the standard model Broncos): https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/skidplates-for-frame-supports.70373/

Mattwings
I like the ASFIR stuff, now that you can sometimes get free shipping, it's pretty price competitive too. The 2.7 crossmembers are definitely the next week link to protect. I think the Eibach springs to get the belly up is my next "investment" to stay off my skids (and 35x11.50s).

@Mattwings Please post if you do get those springs. I was eyeing them as well (non-sas badlands specific ones), but also to offset a front bumper replacement & winch weight. Honestly, I think those crossmembers will just always be taking a beating. Was very surprised to see how low they hang compared to the skidplates that come standard on the badlands.

Hi all,

I have my oem Badlands wheels and tires for sale. They have a few scratches, tires have 15k miles on them but tread looks good. Will take more photos when I have an opportunity to get them out of my garage. They have been off my two door since mid-December. They still have the TPMS sensors in them. Looking for $1200. Iā€™m in Grosse Pointe. Pick up only, I canā€™t deliver with my the two door as five wheels and tires are a very tight fit. Drop me a note if interested.
