Just a quick update/reminder. We are on for Saturday May 21st. 10:30 AM in the parking lot.

What you have to have to ride the trails-

- Vehicle
- Conforming Safety Flag
- MI ORV stickers.

Suggested to have (in addition to must haves)-

- GMRS/FRS Radio tuned to channel 7
- Air Gauge (that reads down to 10PSI). I will likely start at 20PSI, but 15psi is very common and often considered a safe pressure to keep your bead seated on the rim.
- Recovery Strap
- Shovel

There should be a good group, so lots of compressors, kinetic ropes, traction boards etc. to get the "more stuck" vehicles out, so don't worry about building a big kit specifically for this event.

We rode topless from Northville to Tawas last night. It was surprisingly comfortable! When we got to the cabin (on Lake Huron) it had dropped from 84 to 61 degrees. The last few miles were a bit chilly 🥶

Aaaaannnddd we're back to s#!tty weather.
Next weekend at Silver isn't looking promising for topless/doorless warmth either (55° w/24% chance of rain currently).

Well, it’s definitely not looking good for topless driving, I brought my door bags home anyway, just in case. Good news, if it rains Friday, should make the sand firmer for Saturday 👍🏽

Anyone have to fix their windshield yet? Mine just cracked today. For literally no reason.

UPDATE: My chip spread across the whole windshield by the time I left work yesterday. And then I got ANOTHER chip on the way to work AGAIN this morning. I'm so annoyed. I can get it fixed for free based on my insurance, but this is getting ridiculous.

I have a crack as well seems to have come up from under the weather stripping, seems to be from outside but no chip. I have to take it in for oil and tire rotation this week and going to have them check it out while placing an order for a new windshield

I have decent chip in top right corner nothing to bug me yet but I did change my insurance to make the deductible lower due to all the postings about window replacements.

We have heard from several members that there is interest in a trip to Silver Lake Sand dunes. We are making our first club ride Saturday May 21st. We will meet in the main parking lot at 10:30AM for a brief drivers meeting. We will run through proper tire pressure, sand driving basics, trail etiquette, GMRS/FRS radio checks (we use Channel 7 and the radios come in handy on our rides!) and introductions to fellow club members. We will plan to spend 11AM to bout 3PM on the dunes.

The club site has details and links about the park (similar requirements to Holly Oaks on flag, noise, permits etc.)- https://michiganbroncos.club/site/location/silver-lake-state-park-orv-area

We will have stickers for sale and some club merch to show (more and more is available to order online, linked on Facebook and the Club page soon).

For those coming form Metro Detroit, send me a DM and we can work on logistics. I am headed over Friday night. It's just a bit too long for me to go there, ride and drive back in one day.

I have seen this question come up with our group and in lots of other forums. I did a quick detailing of my permanent Bronco recovery equipment and my “off-road” box I take wheeling. Take a look on the club forum and let me know what I missed-

I know there's a few facebook groups out there that are strictly parts for sale, and i've seen a bunch of posts for factory take-offs on them too-I'd try there in addition to here.

Shout out to all the fellow Broncos out at Holly Oaks 4-24. Had a blast and some good conversations. First time wheeling with my Badlands and it has lived up to the hype. I admit it did get stuck in some deep muck but I did manage to get out on my own. Gave a few spectators a good laugh I believe.

Just a quick reminder, Sunday is a club ride day at Holly Oaks. We are meeting about 11AM at the main lot. The weather looks favorable for a topless experience as long as you don't mind getting some mud in your Bronco interior

If you have not been before, you need-

1. DNR Trail Stickers
2. Park Entry Pass (available for purchase on line, 9pm the night before)
3. Conforming flag.

Everything should be available for purchase at the park. It could get very busy, so buy your pass the night before. The prices are OK and the vendor is very helpful.

I should have about 25 MI Bronco Club stickers ($5 each) and I may also be sporting the prototype MI Bronco Club shirt.

Details and links are on the MI Bronco Club site-
https://michiganbroncos.club/site/location/holly-oaks-orv-park

*GMRS Channel 7 is the standard club "ride" channel

I thought this was a cool item for the MI Bronco Club. We have a member who is putting together some merchandise for us. More to come, but we will look to make a few $ to pay for the website hosting and some inventory of trail patches and stickers and club stickers. I will pro send out a poll, but what kind of things would you all like?

Just popping into say hi. Today is allegedly a big day for scheduling and yet ;-) I'm sure I'll be kept waiting. oh well. Have seen a couple of nice two door Bronco floating around Howell so I can still dream.

My Bronco script (nice metal ones) did show up so I just have to remember where they are in October :)

Made a last minute trip out a Yankee Springs (between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo) with a friend (Jeep Gladiator) who had been out before on the two tracks through the state grounds. Relatively mild ride with the exception of a short muddy hill section and a double water crossing. He had been through it but said it was a good 8-12 inches deeper this time (after we went through he said this) with the recent rain. He knew it was gravel bottom but there was a butt pucker moment on the 2nd water crossing (42 sec in) with a deep hole in the middle we didn't know about. Send the hood diving and scared the s*!t out of me. Bud made it through and here to talk about it.

Unfortunately, there isn't good video of me going through the tougher one since I went first. I sat up a little higher then them so problem wasn't quite as deep. Bronco did great! I went through with lockers engaged and glad I did. Didn't want to get stopped part way through. No water in and no check engines, noises, or warnings. Very impressed!

@JakeC Yes and Yes. Its state or county land and public 2 tracks. Used for hunters in the fall to get to their spots. Not great maps online or anything but most did show up on GAIA app. The coordinates above are for the water hole but trails are all around the area. I've heard of more in Middleville north of hear but haven't explored it yet.

I grew up 20 minutes from there....but was never into offroading at the time. There is a pretty good mountain bike trail not far from there as well.
I might have to check this trail out next time I am down there. Thanks!

@VelocityBronco I grew up in Portage and have biked and hiked it as well. There were a fair amount of two tracks so worth a half day visit. Again, nothing tough except the bloated water hole from the rain. I've heard Allegan County has a lot as well.

Anyone in the SEMi / Metro Detroit area have their Bronco fully PPF’d and ceramic coated and if so what place did you go? Probably looking to use Motor City Auto Spa but open to alternatives if someone has a a good suggestion

If anyone is thinking about upgrading your audio system, I posted a few pictures and the components I used in the MI Bronco Club forum. I am happy to walk through the process for people taking on the challenge and doing it themselves (I grew up in a family business doing 12v work, a long time ago 😉).

Where are the soft-top owners placing the ORV stickers? I put last year's on the bumper, which lasted about 14 seconds before it came off. I'm slightly nauseated at the thought of putting a sticker on that beautiful paint. Thoughts?

Get some xpel or other PPF, put it on the tailgate, then put the stickers on top of that.

@etmccaus86 Search on Amazon, you can get xpel kits in different widths and lengths. I was thinking of buying a roll to do my A pillars.

jwoobs
@etmccaus86 I bought mine direct from Xpel when getting the door and rocker panel kit. FWIW I have a hardtop so just put my stickers on the rear glass, but if I had a softop I would be putting it on top of PPF on the tailgate.
@VelocityBronco I planned on doing the same thing to mine, but the roll is still sitting in my garage lol. It's definitely a lot easier to put on the pre-cut kits.
VelocityBronco
VelocityBronco
@jwoobs At the time the $115 kit from Xpel seemed high for a little bit film, and a 6"x84" roll for $28 seemed like a better option. Re-thinking it now, the pre-cut kit is probably worth it...and I might be doing that soon.
With the rocker panel kit, what does it cover? The website has no descriptions or actual pictures.

22 Stickers are required now too btw. I need to figure out a swap process when I get my MIC 2.0 top this summer.

VelocityBronco
@Mattwings Don't they remove the glass from your 1.0 top and install it in the 2.0 top? So any sticker you have on the glass should be ok.
Mattwings
Mattwings
I think you are right, although at the start of the recall, it had them ordering glass. Now I can sticker away without fear.

It's home. Got it Thursday, been driving around as much as I can.

If anyone is looking to upgrade audio in their Bronco, I have a spare JL Audio C1-400X 4" speaker and hopefully the correct adapter.
I have the B&O system, so it leaves me with a odd speaker.
Let me know if you're upgrading and need a single speaker.

These guys in the video always make me smile. For those of you that haven't been to Silver Lake, this has quite a bit of footage of the park. I took a look at hotels and rentals and there is availability in May, but prices seem a bit steep. It would be fun to do a west side trip before it gets to busy this summer.

Dropped my Bronco off yesterday afternoon for its Hard Top replacement therapy, it's 1st oil change, and to have a minor (cosmetic) issue warrantied. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and I'm back on the road by this weekend.

Got her back on Friday. So far everything looks and SOUNDS good. The v1.0 top I had had the common locator pin "rattle," and so far this v2.0 does NOT. However, I haven't taken the panels off yet so that could change going down the road. Thankfully it's an easy fix with either the heat shrink tubing on the pin and/or the 1/4"x1mm felt on the grommet. The minor (cosmetic) issue was replaced under warranty: the plastic cowl that sits between the hood and the windshield as it was deformed near where the antenna is on the passenger side.
When I dropped it of I also pointed out that three of the rear defrost lines were damaged, and not in any place where one would expect any damage to occur. Dealer is claiming that Ford is saying it's NOT covered by warranty since it's "not burned out/looks like it has been scraped," but the service manager is offering to split the cost of replacing it with me because he thinks their decision is wrong. Currently have my sales agent and the "new vehicle delivery specialist" working on getting it fully covered under warranty since it has been like that from the factory and should be covered under the 3yr/36K mile bumper to bumper anyway, so 🤞🤞.

did you order the hard top after you got the vehicle or did it come with the vehicle ? I'm trying to find where I can get one.

@qader999 Mine's a First Edition, so it came with it (though I initially ordered dual tops until Ford nixed that option).

I did my second stereo upgrade, adding an Audio Control LC2I and old MTX amp I had in my basement collecting dust. I also replaced the 6.5” speakers (after prior replacement of the 4” dash speakers and adding a passive crossover to limit the bass to the dash). If anyone is doing similar upgrades, let me know and I can walk you through what I learned in the process.

It is louder (hopefully loud enough to hear with the top/doors off) and sounds way better. I will be swapping the amp and adding a sub to the mix as well. I figured I would try this configuration and see how it sounded 😃

I didn’t love where I had to put it, definitely at more risk from a water perspective. I may eventually relocate everything behind the rear cargo area trim. It just makes and adjustment or alteration a pain if it’s behind those panels. The Audi Control LC2I is a line output converter that also has some basic processing through a “bass restoration” functionality that’s designed to replace bass altered by many factory stereos. It also serves as the remote turn on for the amp. Overall it’s pretty slick for $100. So far I have about $400 into the audio system and I would say it’s much better than stock, not quite as full sound as the B&O. Adding a sub and amp will be about $300 (building my own cabinet) and then should exceed the B&O in sound quality and quantity. If my time was worth anything, the LUX package would probably have been cheaper 🤑

Awesome. I’m thinking about the plug-n-play MTX mini amp + “wiring harness # 7” someone posted around here.

Just upgraded my 4 4” speakers. Turns out an did *not* have the right wiring adapter, so just stripped and plugged right into the Ford plug. Works, but I’m unsure if they’re out of phase. Do you know of a good way to check for that?

Do you need some kind of DSP to check for that?
Mattwings
Mattwings
No, just look for a wiring diagram . A couple of threads on B6g (stereo install threads) have them. They are wired in series, but you can follow the schematic and figure it out. Send it to me if you can’t and I will figure it out.
