Has anyone done the Wrentham State forest trail? I'm trying to plan a road trip to check it out next month.

My guess is that there won't be much in the way of obstacles there. It's flat coastal plain. I'd be interested in a group run on the Old Florida Road in North Adams, which is a definite "Sasquatch or better" trail.

Class VI road - Hutchinson Hill Rd, Brookline NH

If any of you happen to be in Southern NH there is a nice class V1 road that has a bit of everything. If any of you happen to be in the area please hit me up and I will come join you. I did this road and the power lines this past weekend. Was a great time.. but wanted to explore more but was solo. I did run into two other vehicles enjoying the trail.

Here are some youtube vids

It’s a wear item so not hat I’ve heard. However, I did see ford has added some off-road coverage that I think covers small dings and wheel rash (within certain size limits)
SeptuagenarianSasquatch
Consider "Gluetread Tire Repair" for sidewall damage (Amazon), then use the repaired tire as a spare for limited use only--as if it were a donut, until you wear down your other four and are ready to replace all five.

I graced these posts a while back, but ran afoul of...well, never mind. (You might remember me from the MaBell trail and Antrim NH rides.) Anyway, I have a new computer and a new identity, and a fresh resolve to behave myself. Looking forward to any rides and events people are planning for 2024!

I drive a 2022 Carbonized Gray stock 4Door Badlands Sas with a roofrack, 4x4 front bumper, hidden Warn Evo10 winch. With USMC plates.

Sidewall damage. Now I have to work out some arrangement for a spare. Don't want to abandon my Territories at 24K. But I won't be buying Goodyears again!
gjptennis
gjptennis
I got rid of those Goodyears quickly. I did not like all the rock slinging they do and didn’t find them that great on the trails either. I h happier with my Falken AT3W
BostonSasquatch
Nothing to see: a 2-3 inch, L-shaped ragged tear, right at the sidewall "cleating." (Does that cleating accomplish anything? Or is it just to look rough and tough--macho? Didn't protect MY sidewall!) On another thread, I desperately sought ideas for a light-weight repair, also checked with inner-city tire guys: if they couldn't figure out a solution, nobody could!
Well, nobody could. A guy in my church is parts manager for a Toyota dealership. He's ordering 5 KO2s for Saturday, Mass Tax holiday, at $320/each ($1600/5). I'll mount one on the spare, and drive down the tread on the remaining OEM Goodyears. Then chuck those, mount the 4 stored in my basement, and commence a 5-wheel rotation.
I genuinely believe that a significant part of wheeling's fun is risk. Getting into (and out of) difficult obstacles, stuck in mud...vehicle damage. You want comfy "wheeling?" Buy a Land Rover and stick to the national parks.
Lowzee
Anyone ride in the MA state parks, listed here: https://www.mass.gov/off-road-vehicles/locations. I’m new to off-roading so assuming we can ride these… if not, go easy on me :) I’m considering Franklin, due to distance, how technical are these?

Yea, i get that, just hoping someone else has done some of it. Freetown looks promising, someone else threw me that recommendation. I’ll share if it goes well (or not)

Headed to Freetown today. It was super fun. Very mild, but awesome. There are a few side spots with obstacles that I wouldn't tough on my own. Easily can spend 2-3 hours exploring in there.

Sorry so late to this conversation. I have ridden dirtbikes a lot in Freetown. There are a lot of single-track trails. And there are a fair amount of dirt and rock roads that are maintained. It's kind of weird in there because there are ATVs, dirt bikes, horses and trucks. There are rules on who can go where. But half the people in there don't know them and if the EP show up, they usually just correct you and send you on your way. You can probably do most of the roads with a 2wd. So it's not like a fun place to wheel. But it IS a fun place. It's very cool in there and if you get up to the top of the quarry, it's a magnificent spot to have lunch.
JeepsR4kids
Has anyone had there factory wheels customized? I have been debating getting mine painted and powder coating the bead lock rings when I receive them.

JeepsR4kids Increasing tire size involves engineering and geometry I'm not qualified to comment upon. I understand this much: a larger (and heavier) tire puts more strain on your tie rod, so you'll want to upgrade that. That, in turn, puts more strain on your steering box, which is now inadequate (Wildtrak Hoss 3.0 may be the exception--but check!). And what about your lift? One angle changed "here" means you've changed angles "there" and "there," too. So it's not just putting something bigger on for more traction.
I'm happy with the Sasquatch package as is: I think Ford has done a good job of working out the physics so the parts work reasonably harmoniously. Some people may want bigger just for the sake of "bigger," and others for hoped-for improved performance, but I figure all I have to do is air down and pay careful attention to my line of approach--and be willing to turn around if it's too much. Which hasn't happened yet!

PS: There are LOTS of threads on this matter. Lots!

It was a GREAT time! Minor point: wasn't this sponsored by the Facebook "Northeast_Broncos6G" group? Not so minor point: weren't we each supposed to compensate the leader Rich Banfield $10 or something? He was great, we need to do the right thing by him.
The drive down the washed-out ravine was memorable. I bottomed out a few times: I'll check more thoroughly when I give the truck a good wash. My side bodies look okay--I think. (I hope!)

Regarding a logo for stickers and patches. Great idea. Northeast_Broncos6G have a kind of generic one, nice, but I suggest we toss around "theme" ideas. New England trail wheeling is distinctive: the remains of glacial deposits, plus subsequent erosion, leave a morass or very irregular rocks and terrain formations: irregular in size, but especially chaotic in positioning. Give people an idea of what serious New England wheeling is all about!

Something like image #4 (0484): the front quarter of a Bronco (the distinctive headlines, everybody knows it's "BRONCO"), and the front left tire mounting a big rock with obviously hazardous rocks and a dip clearly illustrated. I'm thinking: not the Bronco logo (everybody does that!) and not the whole truck, just the front 1/4 or 1/3, so the rock hazards can be clearly detailed. With a 3/4-front-profile showing the headlight, it's a Bronco and won't be confused with any other truck.

Off-road parks are okay, but this was real backroad and trails wheeling. What a day!

PS: Thanks everybody for helping with my flat.

@BostonSasquatch FYI.. the run was an event put on by the FB group "Northeast Bronco6g". There was a second group with a similar name "Northeast_Bronco6G" but that group has since been renamed to "Northeast Bronco Nation" to reduce any confusion. Sounds like you all had a great time!
Haustkraft
Hey, I’m in central Ma (Holden) and want to start wheeling again. Where/when is everyone going ? I’d love to join!

I also want to sell the Sasquatch wheels and or wheels/tires. Anyone locally interested?

this truck has 8900 miles, I’m thinking of trading it in so that would have under 100 miles on them.

I read somewhere that it's supposed to be "challenging." Not sure how I got that understanding, but I sure hope so. Hopefully, my order of sidebody covering from MekMagnet.com will arrive in time, so I can go through overgrown trails with less worry about pinstriping. Looking forward to meeting you in person--look for a carbonized gray Badlands with a Trailrax + lightbar. We can discuss the-pilgrimage 4x4 gathering in October, very psyched about that.

Perfect! No side protection for me, body panels bolt on now and are cheap enough! Kidding, can’t wait. I’m in a white 4 door BL SAS. Stock on the outside. Has Anyone added any locations to the Bronco trail app by chance ?

@Haustkraft It's been a while, but I did get to South Royalton for the-pilgrimage.com gathering. 350 off-roaders, everything from WWII-era Jeeps to off-the-lot Land Rover mallcrawlers. Really great well-mapped and rated trails, which were mostly around Turnbridge. Check their website about 2024. My Badlands Sas handled everything--lots of BEAUTIFUL mud!-- as I saw seriously equipped Jeeps getting winched. My MEGMagnet covering didn't arrive for the NH gathering in July, but I had it on for VT, worked excellent--let me move confidently close to overhanging brush if I felt I had a better line there.
I'd like to get up to VT sometime in November. If you can free up a day or two (I'm retired, very flexible) maybe we could check out some Class 4 roads, anything in Quebec? Just checked out the map, you're a neighbor of Bernie Sanders, wow!
Better, message me when you're in Boston. We'll have lunch (or something), get acquainted, maybe come up with an agenda.

Just a heads up if you are thinking of East Beach in RI. It requires a permit and is patrolled by DEM. Additionally they set strict limits of people on the sand trail and its super low. Like 40 vehicles. So if you are not there by 8am on a weekend you as an individual will probably be turned away.

I recently upgraded tires and have a full set of 5 stock Outer Banks, Bridgestone Dueler AT 255/70r18 available for sale if anyone is interested. Good condition with 18k worth of miles on the 4, no off-road and no flats. Pickup in CT $750 OBO

You can sign up, but it's awfully expensive. I'd suggest you save that money for recovery gear and upgrades. NH has Class VI roads that offer experience--check them out! (I also messaged you about the 07/30 run.)
