So, I'll be down on the OBX next week - 4/10 through 4/15. Anyone want to meet up one day for a run from Corolla to the VA line and back? Maybe some of the sand roads behind the dunes, too, looking for horses?

Local ordinance. All vehicles must air down.

I agree with you, though. Been driving on the sand there since the 80s. I hadn't been on the sand in a few years, and was told about the ordinance by a neighbor.
TMP
TMP
@Orf Ordinance? Where? And do they now have the “tire pressure” police going around randomly checking tire pressure? Pretty sure your neighbor is messing with you!
ACass98
ACass98
@TMP I saw online that you need to put your tire pressure down to like 18psi
TMP
TMP
They “recommend” you air down but as far as I can find there is no “ordinance” that “requires” you to air down. I’ve been driving on the beaches of OBX since 1982 and the idea that they would pass an “ordinance” that requires you to air down is not only absurd but exactly how would it be enforced???? The “Air Police”?? Random tire checks on the beach?? As I said before most of OBX beaches are drivable at full tire pressure….especially in a light weight vehicle like our Bronco’s……@ACass98
Orf
Orf
We've owned property down there since the 70's. I know more than a few locals. The way it was explained to me, if you get stuck and your tires aren't aired down, there is a fine in addition to the recovery fee. Again, just what I've been told by friends who are locals.
TMP
TMP
So you heard it from a “friend”? 🙄
Orf
Orf
@TMP No need to use quotes. Yes, from friends. Who live in Southern Shores. Also friends who live in Duck. I'm just passing along what I was told by people I trust. If they are wrong, then so be it.

I'll be me, you be you. Which you obviously are...
TMP
TMP
Well there you go! So back to your “ordinance”……let’s say you do get stuck…..anybody with a 4wd that drives on OBX has a shovel on board “just in case”……and if not they are a fool and deserve to get a “ticket”……so when you do get stuck what’s the very first thing you do? Yep…air down your tires….shovel a path at all 4 wheels and try to drive out…..so exactly how are the “air police” going to charge you for not having your tires aired down?Do they have a “device” they can look back in time to when you did get stuck??? The whole thing is absurd and if someone actually gets ticketed for it then they need to just sell their Bronco and get a Prius….😃@Orf

I guess Google can be your friend. Here is an article from 2017 that mentions the ordinance.

Link

"The Currituck County Board of Commissioners passed an ordinance May 15 to help residents and visitors like Tyree help themselves. It requires drivers on the northern beaches to first "air down.""

Heading to Corolla Beach next week. Looking for some ideas on beaches that allow vehicles on the beach and can pull up to the water. Not parking over night, just planning to hang out multiple days during the day at the beach.

Sorry of this is redudent, but I scrolled through and didn't see an answer and google talks about a parking pass but I dont think I need that.

Not staying on the beach, but a mile from it.

If you got or can find a parking pass for Carova 4x4 that is your closest bet. If you don't have the parking pass you can still drive on it. Otherwise, you'll have to head south to Oregon Inlet or beyond towards Hatteras. You'll need a permit to drive there, but you
can park as well.
ACass98
Hello.

so I screwed up. I didn’t know there was a parking pass thing for the off roading cars and I can’t buy one this week off the website. Does anyone here have an extra or nonusing pass for this week on currituck. Also if not does anyone know where I can go to maybe try some sand for a bit.

You can drive out there as much as you want, the pass is needed to park on the beach. If you are renting a house on the 4wd beach, your house comes with 2 parking passes.

@ACass98 If you rented from Twiddy, they should be at the house. But again, that’s just for houses only accessible by driving up the beach. We were there last week, hope the weather is as good for you as it was for us!

You can purchase a seasonal pass from the visitors center by the light house
Vtfakie
The Carova area has very limited number of parking passes each week. As mentioned, you can drive on the beach, just can't park. Your other option is on the other end of the penninsula by Oregon Inlet or beyond on Hatteras, you can get a pass online to drive on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
ACass98
ACass98
@Vtfakie honestly I don’t want to park I just want to drive. I like the area where I’m at on the beach in which no one really allowed. So that will be fine tbh! My uncle got a pass for his Jeep so we will take it for fishing.

@TJ OBX I have to do some remote work Monday so that's out for me but do plan on a sand drive this week tues-thurs.

In Duck. There is a white 2 Dr here, a white 4 Dr coming in, saw a gray 4 Dr yesterday at Scarborough Faire but it they might have left. And an eruption green 4 dr in Southern Shores. Even had a Jeep driver wave at me

I’ll be at work up in Virginia from Tuesday-Friday. Over here on this side of the bridge, there’s my Area 51, a cactus grey and a cyber orange. Most sold through my dealer have gone to the beach.

Has anyone taken out a Sport onto the beaches? Wondering if the lower clearance and narrower tires (compared to the big bronco) would be able to handle the sand.

Got my OBX SAS order in last week! Unfortunately it's unlikely to arrive in time for the big family OBX get together in mid-July. But hey... who knows!

If there's a Bronco Meetup when I'm there can I just come hang with y'all as an order holder?? 😅

I just joined this group. I have planned to be in Nags Head March 6-9, to make my first beach run in my OBX. Plan to do the Northern parts of the National Seashore, as well as the Corolla section. Any washed out beach sections?

Any others plan to be there?

Wow dude - that was quite an adventure to get your rig. Hope it all came out ok in the end. Enjoy your time on the Banks. I will be down early October (Duck) and am hoping I have mine by then. I am one of the mid July soft tops whose build has gone MIA so with each passing day I am less optimistic - but there is still a slim margin.
Received a build date today - 7/19 week. Hoping that means we will have it in hand when my wife and I vacation in Duck in early October. Will make sure to take and post a good OBX photo with the Bronco.

Any updates on your build date?
PecOBX
So I believe mine has been built and is awaiting shipping. I received my Window Sticker on 7/3 and when i called my dealer was told the system was showing them that the truck is scheduled for delivery to them the first week of August. On another thread I saw a reference to a shipping tracking site and when I put my VIN in I get a Freight # but it shows the shipping as pending. From what i gather there are delays with shipping right now - so holding out hope this goes quickly.

The Bronco Sport is a good looking cross over and I might have seriously considered getting one if I wasn’t so set on having a vehicle that allows top and doors off.
Good Afternoon!

Bronco Sport models appear to be currently at dealers. Bronco Sport shares many of the same colors as the Bronco, so if you want to see the colors in-person before you order, use the Ford website to search for dealer inventory by zip code and find your color on the Bronco Sport:

Happy Friday!
