Puget Sound Bronco Brigade

A group for future 2021 Bronco owners to network, meet and discuss Bronco and off road related topics.
Hey team,
Did everybody watch the Bronco allocation video? I'm not sure if everybody jumping on the Bowen bandwagon is the greatest thing now. If some one is proficient at surveys, we should put up a survey on reservation date and dealer location, so we can make sure everybody gets a bronco in MY21. My reservation date is 7/15 at Bowen

I like the color and it was my original favorite but I think in the grey and gloomy PNW the A51 works better. I think CG would be my go to (or RR) if I lived in one of those places with the big bright yellow ball in the sky. I forgot what they call that.

Pierre Ford $1000 off MSRP

After a few email exchanges and a brief chat on the phone with Raymond at Pierre Ford in Lake City - they will honor the $1,000 off MSRP as some of the other dealers have mentioned out of State (referring to Oregon and some in Ca)

The bundle he mentions is this group or others - feel free to mention this forum as this is where I said I would post...

If you were to bring us a bundle deal like you mentioned I would be willing to honor the $1,000 under MSRP to earn the business and everyone would work with me directly to make the process smooth and allow for no hiccups in the process!

I have been in weekly chats with Raymond - as of yesterday - this is still valid and the plan.

@Tippster Thanks. Do you know how can I get it? Just switch the dealer? And is there any confirmation of this offer? Sorry for a bunch of questions, just want to get all the details before switching.
Tippster
Tippster
@evgenyvasenev - the deal they have quoted was $1,000 off MSRP (so take $1000 off your build on Ford.com) and $100 Doc fees with no additional sticker or markups. To change your dealer you just need to call Ford customer support with your reservation number - (800) 334-4375 and they can change your dealer on the phone for you.

Below is Raymond contact information - you can call him once you change your reservation and get the lowdown on the group order for Pierre Ford in Seattle.

Hello Puget Sounders...my name is Cat, and I reserved a 2D WildTrak, and I want it Squatch, with 2.7L engine, and tow package, High or Lux Package. I am crazy for the Cyber Orange. I live on Whidbey Island, and am currently aligned with Frontier Ford, after switching from an Everett dealer due to proximity. Now, I think I am regretting making the switch. No good communication, no good deals or incentives.

Are there any group buys occurring in WA, or Puget Sound? I have been reading good things about Bowen.

Thanks for your time.

You’re not crazy. The cyber orange pops. I have a first edition, going with cactus gray and black interior. I’m currently with Evergreen Ford, but have been hearing good things about Bowen.

Evening everyone. We currently have 3 Bronco Sports available to view or test drive. We picked colors that we thought people would want to see in person. We have Area 51, Kodiak Brown and hope to have Cactus Grey by end of week. Feel free to stop by anytime to check them out and don't worry if you are not purchasing with us, our sales staff is non commission so feel free to ask anyone for assistance. We have a brief walk around of Area51 here: I will get the other ones up soon.

I have not seen any color surveys for just this Smaller group Seattle-Tacoma area.

What have folks settled on now that we are getting really close to pulling the trigger.

Figured it might help us see what will be the most popular on the road in our small area.

Carbonized Grey.

Dang, I really want everybody to hate Area 51 so i would be the only one with it. Wife wants Carb Grey (mentioned above) but it will kind of look like a Ford Exploder. Race Red looks nice when new but after a few years I sense it will fade and look like a a dude past his prime wearing a Speedo. Cactus Grey is also good but I think a tad to light for PNW. Area 51 will age awesome and in a decade will become a classic. (Yes I know, I will end up with the Carb Grey, HAHA)
grewhi
Ok, I know, I know...Does "Do what ever the f__k you want" mean green light? I think it has to be Area 51. It is the only color that is exclusive to the Bronco/Bronco sport in MY21. I think that should add collector value as I drive this car for 40 year under the lifetime warranty from Bowen. I'm thinking of adding my son to the title to extend the warranty for another 30 years after I take the long nap.
Joker352
Carbonized gray is most likely what I'll be going with, myself. I may change my mind last minute, but we'll see!

I contacted the person who handles the reservations/orders over at Evergreen Ford in Issaquah to see if they might do something like other dealers are with price and warranty and they are firm that they will not match other offers. They are saying they are proud not to be marking up the price. Also, they threw shade on all other "Good Deals" out there.

Names left out to not harm the innocent....

Here's what they wrote:
We made the decision to not mark up the Bronco above MSRP and I know many dealers are adding a markup. Since margins are so low on new vehicles I'm sure other dealers will try to find a way to look like they are offering incentives. It seems, from your description below, that Bowen Scarff will discount the Bronco $1,000 if you buy a extended warranty. Of course, they will over charge this warranty by at least a $1,000.

Not sure I trust everything on forums. I read on one of them that a dealer in the mid West was selling the Bronco at Invoice. Playing these trick will get people to change or cancel their reservation and start from scratch and not get their Bronco until mid to late 2022 or later.

Bowen Scarff in Kent? Their's includes lifetime power train - they were not marking up, did I miss something?

I moved this week from Evergreen to Bowen. Evergreen bad mouthed the Bowen FREE lifetime warranty but after talking to Caitlin at Bowen the bad mouthing was unfounded. The bad mouthing included that the warranty required dealer scheduled maintenance, and the coverage was poor. Caitlin confirmed that seals/gaskets were included as well as the transfer case. In addition the standard maintenance could be done anywhere, just keep the records. All this including a glowing endorsement of Bowen by my father made it a easy decision. Nothing against the guys at Evergreen but Bowen is out working them. (Also confirmed Bowen is at MSRP and no addition deposit on converting from reservation to order)

All dealers are competing for business. They will throw each other under the bus if it means you buy from them instead of their competition. So far, Bowen has my business cause they have actually worked for it. Korum tried telling me that Bowen was no good. That's all Korum has done for me: Bad-mouthed another dealer instead of showing me what they can do for me. Other dealers are probably pissed with Bowen because they are most likely going to have the most business because they are doing it right.
Are you guys going with MIC or Soft top? I may pick up a white top later down the road but for now I think MIC due to the rain. Thoughts?

Definitely MIC, because the PNW is a rainy place. If I lived somewhere with better weather where I would cruise with the top off often, I'd go for the soft top.

What's everyone's off-roading experience in the group and where do you plan on exploring in the beautiful NW?

This will be my first rig, so I'm trying to learn all I can about off-roading, safety, and essential equipment. I've owned quads and dirtbikes, but never a ride that could venture far beyond maintained trails.

My first adventure will probably be Capitol Forest (Waddel Creek and Rock Candy area), since it's so close and I'm familiar enough with it from my quading and dirtbike days.

I've not got much more experience than the rest of you. Old logging trails out by Elbe and some of the stuff round where skagzoola was talking bout off 410. My 98 Taco gets it done, but she's aging. Eager to go and find more places to ride!

So for those of you who have a little experience, are people pretty friendly out on the trails or is it everyone-for-themselves-like mentality? For the most part, I've read people seem pretty chill and friendly, but I've also read multiple posts where some sounded judgmental AF with a definite douchey vibe that would make someone new to this like me feel unwelcome. Regardless, I'm going to have a blast off-roading, I'm just wondering what the vibe is typically like.

@Skagzoola that's good to hear and what I was thinking/hoping
Joker352
@WhatsKraken I can't say I've come across anyone that was a dick out on the trail. In tight spots, when one vehicle is going uphill and the other downhill, I've had a few encounters where we quickly and kindly figured out how to best get by each other engage in some quick chatting and go on our separate ways. I'm sure there's assholes out there, but when you're on the trail, most seem to understand that it's better to be courteous than a dick.
robepa

@WhatsKraken Off roaders yes, its very rare for people to not be nice and helpful. The trails are 95% Jeeps and Toyotas and there is often some good natured ribbing between the two groups. I commonly leave expensive gear at my camp without a worry or problems. In the fall elk hunters vary but some are not happy they have to share the forest, although I have never had a problem.
robepa
robepa
I have an 06 Tacoma, started off overlanding/camping and have got more into off roading. The Tacoma is crazy long on these trails, my Jeeps friends have been bugging me to get a Jeep but its never been my thing. When the Bronco was announced I decided to jump on that. I mostly off road at Naches, Fortune Creek, Ahtanum State Forest, etc. Basically I'm an equal opportunity whore for the PNW trails! I have the most fun on trails that are rated moderate to difficult on trails off road. Compared to a Jeep or Bronco the Tacoma makes things a grade or so harder IMO. I am looking forward to getting into something smaller and more capable!
Joker352
@robepa The Taco is a very capable off road truck, but yeah length can hinder some stuff. I've never had an issue offroad with my old Taco, but then again I've not done anything really difficult. Gonna be nice to have a truck that can outdo my Tacoma and get me places I'd not have wanted to try in it!
robepa
robepa
@Joker352 Yeah, that's a good point, its not really about being able to do harder trails, every vehicle has limits and the more capable it is typically the worse it is if you overstep those limits. I have been jealous of the Jeeps doors & windows off fun when the weather is nice. Also It will be nice to have the wheels outside of the body work, add some real rock sliders and then when you do contact something on the trail it typically isn't a big deal

Yes, especially since they cover the transfer case too, cause I know people do have some concerns about the longevity of the electric one in the Bronco.

Evergreen went with the line the warranty isn't very good but an email exchange with Bowen contradicts this. The warranty does not require maintenance be done at Bowen, covers seals and gaskets, and service can be done anywhere (I would use Bowen for any warranty covered service for sure). Seams like a pretty good deal for free. Also they are selling at MRSP (no ADM)

@grewhi yeah, I'm going Bowen all the way, even though korum is just down the street, I'm willing to drive a bit because Bowen has been really good to me so far.
I still haven't been contacted at all by Korum.

We're all in with Bowen, Caitlin Peralez is their Bronco expert and she is very communicative and even sent us a text about the Filson event a few weeks ago so that we wouldn't miss it. They've got my business simply by not being shady and letting us know things when they know things.

Just been chatting with Manager at Bowen Scarff. They are more than happy to have any of us come in and test drive an F150 and a Ranger both to get an impression of both engines. Just give them a heads up and they'll accommodate as needed.

What dealer does everyone have their reservations at? Mine is Bill Pierre Ford in North Seattle. I haven't heard anything from them yet. Have you guys heard from your dealers? I know nothing about Bill Pierre Ford so if you know of a better dealer close to Seattle please let me know.

@Cat I’m not getting any better than MSRP from Caitlin @ Bowen Scarff in Kent, but she is at least communicative and clear. The area rankings that I’m aware of for ease of dealing with people are: Korum, Mullinax, Titus-Will, Bowen-Scarff, Bickford, Epic and AutoNation Bellevue. I decided to try Bowen because I could get there for service in the future too - Oly is way out of the way for me. Don’t deal with non-communicative people. It won’t get better with time.

I am guessing - these smaller dealerships will not be willing to cut any deals until after they see how many reservations they actually have. We, as the ones with the checkbooks - still have the leverage so I would wait until the last possible moment to change to see who breaks on the dealer side and starts to advertise they will discount from MSRP. I have set my internal clock to Thanksgiving - and will move then based on who is making deals - if that means California - then road trip it is! :)
Tippster
I went down there as well - a few different than what were posted on front page - but same idea - it was extremely cool see and touch the thing in person - that Area 51 paint color is really awesome in person - did not think I was going to like it - but it changed my mind for sure.

Yeah A51 is a super prime color.
The MGV seats were also super kool! I wish there was a 2 door there for comparison, but the 4 door wasn't as big as i thought, so I'm pretty much sold on the 4 door now.
