Hey Everyone - New to the Tampa group. I am in Dunedin with a 23 squatched Green 4 door Badlands. Broncos were kinda scarce here when I bought a year ago, but I've seen more here recently.

I'm in Oldsmar, count me in. Also anyone interested in going to Croom as a little road trip?

The only meet that I know of is the one at Fords Garage in Brandon. Not sure if those are still going on or not.
But there are also a handful of off-road groups (that include some Broncos) that are always doing rides.

I guess we can meet in multiple places. I like the causeway cause in a way (lol) you can park on the gulf, rent a kayak, grab a beer, take in in the sun…plus it’s always jambed with jeeps. I’ll try to figure out a date maybe in March or April

@BroncocnorB I go there often to just ride on the beach roads. As far as Croom goes I can go any day of the week. Give me some date that work for you.

Free platform deck made specifically for 2022 4 Door Ford Bronco.

3/8 plywood 42” wide by 33” inches deep.

2x4 cut 42" wide for the front brace.

Pick it up in Sarasota.

I have since built a better one out of thicker wood and it's taller. This one does have some sag. But works fine and yours for free if you want.

Here is the writeup about the build.

2023 Fall FAR - DECAL.png

Fall FAR 2023 - FLORIDA ADVENTURE ROUTE - an Overlanding BRONCO Event

September 15th,16th and 17th, 2023
Crescent Beach, FL to Steinhatchee, FL and then back (to Palatka, FL).

This is an Overland Group Ride (OGR) event. This is over paved and unpaved roads through some of Florida's most scenic areas.

This OGR has one of the lowest finisher ratios of almost any ROUTE out there . Fewer participants complete this entire OGR than finish the Dakar Rally as a percentage of those that start versus those that finish. Now, just to be clear, while the ROUTE can be challenging, the biggest hurdle for most to completing the entire OGR is blocking out the time and logistics to ride the entire route for 2 full days. So, make the most of your time and plan accordingly.

This time we are not going to make you take pictures or keep track of points (except for the beginning and end) so be honest and show some integrity.
All you must do is COMPLETE it and make it to the finish to earn a FAR decal.

We encourage/prefer that all participants team up with at least one other person if not more. Remember conditions on these dirt roads can change with the weather. It is important to travel with others in the event you encounter tricky spots where you might find yourself stuck in one spot for the foreseeable future unless you get some help from someone.
It is for this reason we will have a group of sweeps, and any new riders, who do not have a group to ride with. This way you will be able to follow along and go at your own pace. Since this group will likely have not ridden this route either, you will see how we deal with closed gates, bridges out, angry farmers or any of the other potential deviations to the “route”. It is all part of the adventure, which we call fun.

Friday Night we will be meeting at 7:00pm at the Azalea City Brewing Co. This is located at 120 S. 7th St, Palatka. This is just a couple of blocks from the Hampton Inn. They have a food truck there on Friday Night. Also, since the place does not serve food, you can bring your meal in. Some folks will be getting pizza delivered. There are also some other good restaurants nearby. Hope to see all the early birds come and enjoy the evening.

GPX files are distributed the week of the event, and someone will be on site Friday evening and Saturday morning to help upload the route to your device if needed (Garmin, GaiaGPS, etc). Please bring the appropriate USB cord for your device to connect to a laptop on site (I will have USB A, C, etc).

COMMUNICATION WILL BE ON GPRS CHANNEL 22 (for high-powered, long-range communications) as well as FRS CHANNEL 7 (for those without GPRS radios). There will be sweepers equipped with “channel scan”, so don’t worry if you do not have GPRS, we can hear you on both channels if needed.

If you're coming from out of town, the host hotel for the start of the event is the Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront in Palatka. We have rooms blocked off in groups of 25... so once that fills up, they will block another 25 (if available). So don't wait to reserve your room if needed. The rate is currently negotiated at $109 for the night.
Ask for Melanie and tell her you are with the Fall FAR group or event.

Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront: (385) 328-3481

(They currently have 1/4 of the hotel reserved for a family reunion going on that same night or weekend.)

The Saturday Rider's meeting is from 8:00 to 8:30 (sunrise is projected to be at 7:10 am on 9/16, so don’t be late!). This is next to the Quality Inn Parking Lot in Palatka. On the corner is a vacant lot we can assemble in. However, the route begins at the Atlantic Ocean, in Crescent Beach, but I prefer not to use my laptop in the sand.

You will need to capture a picture of the sunrise (depending on weather) that morning in Crescent Beach and an additional picture of the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico in Steinhatchee to get a FAR decal.

Saturday's Dinner will be at 7:00pm at Fiddlers Restaurant - We are looking for donations to give as door prizes, and I will reach out to vendors to support our group with donations as well. Must be present at dinner to win. We will use tickets to draw for the winners.

Fiddler's is the main place to stay in Steinhatchee.

Fiddlers Restaurant and Resort: (352) 498-7427

Ask for Shelby, she is a real joy to talk with! Tell her you are with the Fall FAR group or event... you can't miss her accent! They allow pets, but there is a pet deposit or fee assessed to the room... ask them for more details.

Sunday morning rider meeting will be at 8:00am in Front of Fiddlers.
Finish is 4.00pm to 5:00pm at Azalea City Brewing in Palatka. Must be present to get awarded your FAR decal.

Information for newer Adventure enthusiasts. We encourage/prefer that all participants team up with at least one other participant if not more. Remember conditions on these dirt roads can change with the weather. It is important to drive with others in the event you encounter tricky spots where you might find yourself stuck for the foreseeable future unless you get some help.
It is for this reason the "meeting leader" that morning will try to drive out last with a group of sweeps and any new participants who do not have a group to go with. This way you will be able to follow along on your own and learn how to figure out navigation using GPS tracks. Since this group will likely have not ridden this route either, you will see how they deal with closed gates, bridges out, angry farmers or any of the other potential deviations to the “OGR”. It is all part of the adventure, which we call fun.

As we get closer, we will post up more details in this post.

This is a free event, and any donations will be raffled off on Saturday night.

We've had a lot of interest so far, so bear with me if I don't keep the names list updated. I will post a link to a website eventually (still working out the kinks) and there you all will be able to officially register (keeps numbers accurate for the reception hall and hotel and restaurant staff), as well as a "hold harmless" agreement... You know, the legal mumbo jumbo that says stuff like, "if you run over your dog because you left your vehicle in neutral, it's not our fault" kind of stuff. 👍

Glad to have you all... It's going to be a great weekend!

If for some dumb reason I forgot to post the link to the website, or it's not ready yet, just come see me... You're all welcome and there will be a stack of hold harmless agreement there anyways. 👍

GPX files won't be posted here, they'll be sent through email to registered individuals... Or by QR code on Friday and Saturday at the event. 👍

We will help anyone who can't get their route loaded, it's ezpz and will display right on your vehicle sync 4 head unit.

@Uncle Bob sounds great uncle Bob, praying for you. 🙏

You west coast guys will have the opportunity to run Sundays route on Friday if it works better for you guys. You'll just meet us on Saturday morning, and already be halfway done. I've got a buddy I'm gonna recruit to meet you guys over there for those who want to, so you don't have to run back and forth for twice as long as East coasters.

As long as you can follow the route and get you required pics in, you'll be gtg.

👍

@Dan D. Bronco is on the train! Departed Michigan at 5:19am today. Dealer is saying 4-5 weeks. Doing the Sunday run on Friday sounds awesome if we can get some Adult Supervision.

@Uncle Bob I met the coolest cat last weekend on a ride up north... he just joined the team, and is buying a house in tampa in September. So he will likely lead that group on Friday... and I will make sure you get the route by email before then. Just make sure you register on the website, since I won't be on that end to upload or share it with you.

The other option is we are going to add the link to the files the week before in the downloadable brochure (can't figure out how to get the links to stay active in the flipbook option). There will also be a QR code on that page, so that will work. Right now it's just a placeholder. It will download the Kentucky Adv Route... so don't do that one! :D

The route will only be active for the week before and then it will go away after the event ends. They are very protective of their routes here in Florida, since we have so little... and they don't want people coming down here and tearing up the roads and having them paved over. Lots of sand... should be a good time.

congrats on the ship date... it's a great feeling for sure!

i'll post a pic of Ferrous (he will be the scout lead in Tampa if he makes it there in time, if not... Jess will cover that end instead). He's active on here also... hangs around the New England Group. His mods are pretty sweet...

check the top of the page here in a few... I'll share it here as well.

Website is somewhat active at this point... This is the best way to sign up for the event.

Use the "Contact Us" area at the bottom of the page to register, that way I know who is coming and you will receive the route GPX file the week before. 👍

Thx

I saw a lot of positive stuff about CoaterZ in Palm Harbor. I stopped in and spoke with Piper. I got a good vibe and the prices she quoted me seemed reasonable. My Bronco just got scheduled to be build, but when it arrives, I'm pretty sure I'll be taking it to CoaterZ directly from the dealership.

Well this is my first post! Just picked up Buck on 4/29 and am loving it! I was surprised to find the exact build I wanted on a lot in Jacksonville. Buck is a Hot Pepper Reb badlands non sas with lux and tow in a m/t. So much fun!

Love my beach ride. Added a ton of accessories.. drew the wave design, made it with iridescent high metallic so it shimmer by day and glows at night, 3.5 lift, 20x10 platinum wheels, rock lights and wheel light, it has every option and added dual 12" Rockford Fosgates powered by 1200 watt amp.. it has won several car shows already but mostly its just an amazing ride to play in!!! I also included the pic of it as it was at the dealership when I picked it up

Has anyone been to the Croom wildlife management area(WMA) in brooksville? Looks like some decent light stuff. Looks like basically you need 4 wheel drive but nothing remotely crazy. Seems like a great first test to basically get dirt and mud on the tires.

Yeah and then Citrus Wildlife just across from it is even more technical.

Both are fun. Probably very dry at this time but lots of puddles once the summer hits.
vbrad26
vbrad26
Overall Croom is easy. Right now, with as dry as it is, it could probably be done in all 2wd honestly.
It can get a little tight in spots where you may get some branches running down the top/sides.
But other than that it is very low risk.
Citrus is a little more technical, however I've seen they have filled in some of the technical spots. But over time, they will come back...
Either would be fine for your first time out, but Croom would definitely be more mild.
Hello everyone. Picked up my 2023 cactus gray Wildtrak on March 25. It was simultaneously the stupidest and most amazing thing I have done in the vehicle world. Looking forward to meeting some other owners, hitting some trails, and general conversation.
