  1. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

That is what I was thinking. The machined surfaces of the filter mounting boss look suspiciously like the metal strip in the filter. I am sure that is CNC machined and that strip of metal got wedged in there and over looked when inspected. I doubt they do a 100% inspection anyway.
  2. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

I certainly have not experienced this. I have a 4.0 SOHC powered 2002 Ranger that has 312K miles on it. I used the grade oil Ford specifies but it was full synthetic Valvoline oil. It still runs great and shows no signs of bearing degradation. It uses no more oil now than it did when new. I...
  3. Ford offering Navigation after trial - is it worth it?

Garmin Overlander is all I need for cities, highways and wilderness. It is not perfect because sometimes it shows old trails that don't exist anymore and not updated some new trails. That is not a common occurrence but I always keep it in mind when in remote wilderness. Free updates keep the...
  4. New 2026 with KO2 issues

You must be very unlucky. I have used the original BFG AT tires, KO2, KO3 and KM3 tires since around 1979 and have had zero issues with them. A rare occasional puncture but that happens with any tire. The tires I had problems with was Pro Comp 32" MT. They were good for around 15K miles...
  5. Asked to decide between Ranger or Bronco

I am aware of that but they are being delivered. Unfortunately, at a very slow pace.
  6. Asked to decide between Ranger or Bronco

I originally wanted a Ranger but Ford would not build the one I wanted. They did install the 2.7L V-6 but, the dropped the extended cab version with the 6 ft bed. I do not want a four door Ranger. I also wanted the Tremor model. They dropped that too. I decided to consider the Bronco for...
  7. Thoughts about my Bronco from a Jeep guy!

Your Sport mode must be different than mine. My Sport mode shifts at higher rpm than Normal mode which is what I expect of a Sport mode. It also has quicker shifts and is more responsive when I step on the accelerator pedal. As long as I drive the same in Sport and Normal modes, I get the...
  8. I'll bet you didn't know...

Maybe they are referring to a Bronco Sport.
  9. Ford Performance Rear Differential Cover Installed Impressions

I just picked up my new Ford Performance cover. I am trying something that I learned in the 32 years of building racing engines. That is use a red primer on the inside area. It's function is several things. I helps oil shedding from the surface. It seals the cast iron to help iron particles...
  10. Eibach may need to learn from Bilstein

How do I specify the size. It looks like I need size 3.0 but your link shows three sizes.
  11. Eibach may need to learn from Bilstein

I mistyped 3.5". I saw 3.75" in your link but I thought that was the OD. My rear springs are about 5.5" OD and taper down to about 4.5 on each end. Fully extended they are about 17" long to the seats and about 14.5" long with vehicle on the ground. It looks like you rebrand the Seal Saver Pro...
  12. Eibach may need to learn from Bilstein

These only go up to 3.5" diameter. I found another brand that also are called seal savers. They go up to 6" diameter. The rear Eibach 2.0 Pro coilovers are a little over 5.5" diameter. I also contacted Eibach and they are seeing if anything in their racing division has something that will work...
  13. What's the Biggest Lesson You've Learned Off-Roading?

There is always something new to learn about. Keep brain engaged.
  14. PPF - wish I’d done it when I first bought the Raptor

That is the first thing I did when I got my Bronco. People though I was crazy for doing that to a new vehicle. I only had the hood, front fenders, the area under the grill and headlights. I also had the grill coated with Line-X. That is were I get the most damage from flying rocks.
  15. E load vs C load tires - what's your pick?

Please explain that? I don't understand how that works. Rubber does not act like sponge cake.
