Yup I’m pretty sure it’s the cam phasers. Very common failure in 2.7 engines happens after 10-15k miles typically.

I think the best way to protect the hard top is not to use anything on it at all and just rinse it with water when washing. The material is really delicate and from what I’ve seen and heard pretty much anything has been reacting bad to it
