I bought one a year and a half ago and installed in my Base. Best price I found on them was through Jegs. It just bolts in and works. I wired the locker through a manual switch and relay. Works as it should.
I swapped mine out last July. I bought a low mileage used front end with the axles from a user on here. The only thing the system required was to change the axle configuration in the ECU which I did with my Ford Tuner...it was very straightforward. I can't speak to how much it would cost you in...
You need to wire a relay in line. A fuse won't hold up to the initial current draw. I tried up to 30 amp fuses and they blow immediately. I had to install 30 amp relays.
Yeah, too much load for the fuses...I think it must hit hard at first and settle down a bit...I'm thinking I may have to replace the front coil, I'm not convinced it's working...I can hear the rear engage but nothing from the front and it has power at the pigtail...it's always something....
Yes! I installed 30amp relays to handle the load. Once that was done, I haven't had an issue since...well, except for catching the front locker pigtail on fire...but I had an extra so no biggie...
Anyone interested in going out to Berdoo Canyon over the weekend? I'm open to Saturday or Sunday if there's interest. I'm an experienced off roaders and have a good set up... rookies are welcome to join in, it's not a particularly challenging trail...
I did a solo trip through Berdoo and JT a month or so ago...I came down the trail. I didn't see another soul until I got down to the shooting/trash dump area. I'd be up for a trail party if you head that way again.
I can't believe how much trouble you had with yours, I'd have lost my cool and cussed everything under heaven... I'll check polarity before I juice everything back up and cross my fingers I haven't already fried a coil...I need these working next week and don't have much time this week with a 70...
This is my understanding also... Brian obviously was put through the gambit with his...I'm sure he understands the system better than me but how does Ford expect every Bronco to be wired polarity correct on a million trucks? Must be paying QC some serious OT in the differential department...
