I didnt even know there was a 3.0l EB. Just read this on Jalopnik "The 3.0-liter EcoBoost is currently rated at 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque in the MKZ and Continental "

Well, yep, that would work!!!
Once Stampede mentioned the 3.0 Ecoboost I was sold. That is an outstanding engine and I would buy it as a upgrade if it is available. I dont think we will get that one but I do think the new Ranger Chassis is being built to fit the 2.7 which is a beast and is the base engine for the F150. Either of these in the Bronco would be a welcome option to the 2.3 that is being offered in the current Ranger.

This might sound completely stupid, but I don't think they will ever offer the 3.0 in the Bronco due to Marketing reasons.

Here is the list of vehicles that is getting the 3.0. Anything stick out to you from that list? High Dollar Luxury is what sticks out to me.

Applications[edit]
  • 350 hp (261 kW) at 5500 rpm, 400 lbâ‹…ft (542 Nâ‹…m) at 2750 rpm (Front-wheel drive only)
    • 2017– Lincoln MKZ
  • 365 hp (272 kW) at TBD, 380 lbâ‹…ft (515 Nâ‹…m) at TBD
    • 2020 Ford Explorer Limited
  • 400 hp (298 kW) at 5750 rpm, 400 lbâ‹…ft (542 Nâ‹…m) at 2750 rpm (Rear-wheel drive and All-wheel drive only)
    • 2017– Lincoln Continental
    • 2017– Lincoln MKZ
    • 2020– Lincoln Aviator
  • 400 hp (298 kW) at TBD, 415 lbâ‹…ft (563 Nâ‹…m) at TBD
    • 2020– Ford Explorer ST
  • 450 hp (336 kW) at TBD, 600 lbâ‹…ft (813 Nâ‹…m) at TBD
    • 2020– Lincoln Aviator Hybrid

Think of an Audi Q7, the new models come in 2.0L and 3.0L options. To sell the Aviator against a Q7 they need to look apples to apples to each other. Audi has a 3.0 so I need to have a 3.0 in my Aviator or it doesn't look at good to the consumer. Same thing with BMW X6, Range Rover Sport etc. I think Ford keeps that Engine as a premium luxury brand engine for the buyer who image is everything.

Personally I feel like the 2.7 is more than enough engine for the Bronco with 325HP and 400lb-ft of Torque. I just hope Ford gives us the option for something other than the 2.3.

Premium is why the 3.0 is the better option. The high output version that those "luxury" units get will get a boost to their perceived capability by putting the same HO 3.0 in the Raptor trim Bronco/Ranger. To keep production simple, a 'detuned' 3.0 with a mere 325hp can go in the regular Bronco.

It's the same strategy Ford used with the 3.5 in the F150.

I'd still rather have the Coyote though.

I've found posts on over 20 automotive websites where he posts that.

Apparently it is his own special shorthand for 'in for updates' Basically he creates a post in a thread so that he gets an email notification if there are any more posts so he doesn't miss anything.
