Well, I am more a summer guy. NW all my life, but just never loved the snow. I'm envisioning a nice hot summer day, with top off. Stop for lunch and look at the wildflowers. Shit, I am getting old, wtf looking at wildflowers.
I have never been on it, except for the first mile last month in the jeep, just to find the beginning of it out of Stevenson. So it will be new to me. Have you traveled all or part of it?
I daily drive my 2013 JKU. Always feels fine to me. I don't think it is as smooth as my wife's Lexus of course, but I rather like that if feels a bit rough. Then again I am old, so modern cars are so much nicer than what I grew up having.
My first run will probably be what appears to be a pretty sedate Washington Backroad Discovery Route. Should be fun and relaxing, with nothing too challenging at all. I have no real desire to do anything to damage the Bronco.
Maybe revisit the Alvord desert and do the Steens loop.
Ordered and keeping the Steel Wheels. I like the gloss personally. I may change to some slotted mags at some point, but for now, I like the black against the Oxford white I got.
Plus, when I am in Africa on my overland and bounce of a boulder, errr I mean in the mall when I curb the parking...
Not disputing you, but am unsure why it will be smoother? With a 10speed auto, seems like it will be as smooth as a 6cyl. Then again, I find my 2013 JKU pretty smooth, so my judgement might be in question!
I am actually curious why you wouldn't. Power creep has been going on for years. The 4 cylinder will have more HP than the first two Mustangs I had, and likely be faster to boot. There is no place to drive fast anymore, the Bronco will likely not be the best car to drive fast with, and will...
I'm just happy its in and over with. Like most of us, I had so many builds and submitted nearly a dozen to my dealer. I literally flipped builds hours before order to go from Base (a great rig) to the BD (another great rig). In a way I am sad I didn't stay Base, but anxious to here and see...
Talked to my dealer, my order is submitted. She said it was a nightmare, as they have to translate the B&P build into the order form. I was the test order today. I had about as simple an order as you can take, and the GM to 2 hours translating it. It did turn out right though. I found out...
There appears to be quite a lack of consistency at this point. My dealer submitted mine without the meeting confirmation. A bit scary, but they did manage to get it right.
I think Rick actually stays away from the Overlanding is Camping discussion. I am guilty of it though. I don't really care what its called, though I do make fun of it sometimes.
I think often, those of us, chiming in, its just camping, are doing so to hopefully convey the feeling, that it can...
