It's probably a JIS tapered pipe. Take it to the hardware store and see if you can get an adapter. The coupler style looks like a non standard coupler for the US market as well. JIS tapered pipe is also very odd.

Generally, it should be easiest to create something that impacts the fuel pump operation. I would think a switch mounted in the well in the back of the bronco. Even better if you have that locking compartment and the switch is in there.
