Maybe you can do a smoking test. Look for where the smoke comes out, seal it then.
The extra pool noodle will make it hard to close, especially when the latch is loose and then it will make things worse. It is really case by case.
emmm... that is strange. He bought two dash panels? I have seen and touched his new dash and can confirm it is leather.
Anyway, you works at dealership and have more info. I would trust you more.
Yes. He wants the Raptor style on his 2 Dr Bronco, which looks pretty good. I got his plastic dash to repair mine.
I think he mentioned it was more than $1000.
I use a similar solution. Put it above the TOR Overhead molle panel.
Their panel has enough space to insert the mini dish and secure it. Right now I just use two velco strip to secure it. Works great...
Can they add some cushion padding in their new mount design? From their website, I can understand their use case.
Here I quote some numbers from Turn Offroad experiments.
'When offroad the entire vehicle body flexes as the suspension articulates and places pressure on the frame. This "twisting...
If we ever want a mount, it should have quick release for camping and in-motion hybrid usage. Maybe just a velcro wrap, so it would be convenient to take it out.
For the external mount (roof rack), the mount should have good protection for all the flying stones, bird poop.
THere are a few settings which may help.
1. Turn off data saving in the cellular, which offloads data traffic to wifi as much as possible.
2. Turn off any automatic backup like Google Photos will help to reduce upload traffic.
3. No auto-update. (App, system etc).
Please report back how it holds offroad :).
For the heat ... I would be more worried that the hardtop could delaminate with the heat instead of the mini getting burned...
1. Consider it as a warning message, not an error. It won't force you to align and simply works in a suboptimal condition, In motion, you may experience disconnection during a sharp turn or blockage.
3. I have a similar power bank (ecoflow river 2 pro). On one charge, it can work 3~4 nights (4...
I tried under a softshell roof tent (inspired overland)+ TrailRax roof rack. It works!
No difference compared with dash +windshield.
Looks like a few cross bars won't matters. Hardshell RRT may be different though.
The mini can be inserted above rear roll bar, but it is tight. The molle panel seems to be higher than rear roll bar. So...
I wonder if the panel can be mounted upside down, then it clears the space. @Turn Offroad
It is a trade-off between speed and connectivity. Alignment is for the best throughput. In my limited test, the speed is around 50~when driving. But once you parked, the speed is better (80~90). Still not optimal, but good enough.
Yes, a quick release will be better.
Further update:
The mini surface is a little bit hot for 3 hr usage (I left it in my truck), so it may not be a good idea to be too close to the hardtop.
And not sure if any aluminum foil-based headliner (or sound-deadening butyl sheet) will block the signal. Only more tests will tell.
The app just shows a warning about alignment mismatch, you can ignore it and just use it. Last time I tested, if misaligned, it will request you to adjust orientation.
