Guess what? You answered your own question about why people don't ask their dealer for information.
Who would have imagined that the average car dealer was an unreliable source of information?
I seriously doubt it. 608 days in and lots of people still don't have build dates. They kept taking more orders in that time even though they couldn't fill the ones they had.
Manufacturing economic theory equates stopping a production line with a loss of money. Only excess parts beyond what keeps the line going will be used to finish or rework partial units that are waiting on the Bad Luck Mts.
Would you feel better if they 'built' it two months ago except for one or two parts, and didn't expect to see it for maybe another month or three?
I'm sure Mud Mt. or whatever is next will be waiting for a few thousand lucky builds.
Wow they're dumb. Not only is it sleazy, but totally illegal. Usually when someone commits identity theft they have the sense to not use the victims accounts.
Report it to the cops as identity theft, then give Ford a copy of the police report. Let these scum get what they deserve.
Would you rather have it partially built and sit in a parking lot for several months waiting even longer for the rest of it's parts? That's the alternative to just waiting.
You're welcome to join the club. Dirt Mt., Ice Mt. I'm sure there will be another wave before too long. Count yourself...
With the caveat that they won't know until Ford schedules it for production, which could be anything from a few weeks to over a year from now, based on various options you ordered and seemingly random chance.
It would have to be a flying Jetsons thing at this point to make 600 days waiting 'worth it' for a lot of people.
There are plenty of weirdos out there who don't even keep a vehicle for that long before they need to move on.
Yeah, placing an order in the last 3 months makes even a 2023 seem rather optimistic. There are plenty of people with first day reservations that still don't have a VIN or build date scheduled.
Finally got a built date 02/09 ... but the delivery estimate got pushed back again to 03/08.
It's looking more and more like I won't have to submit an order a third time for a '23, but who knows when it will actually get here.
One would like to imagine a first-in-first-out type approach, but based on how they handled dirt mountain it's a lot more random than that.
Plus there's the bonus possibility you'll be one of the lucky builds that gets an extra hundred miles of use driving parts to/from the lot, or a dented...
It's been a while, but basically the same dumb **** holding a bunch of us up. We're stuck on Ice Mountain waiting for Ford to have the "surplus" parts needed to complete our builds.
The production line kept running for a couple months with periodic parts shortages, and if your Bronco was being...
