  1. Ford's Performance ProCal Tune for the 2.3L (Experience and thoughts??)

The tune was worth it. The rev matching, extra power, and better mileage were all good. 7MT Badlands 2 door here. I towed my enclosed motorcycle trailer ~2200 mi on a summer trackday/motorcycle tour in the PNW immediately after installing the tune, and it was notably better than the first...
  2. 2 year Bronco ownership review from a previous Jeep owner!

Interesting on the surge issue. I had a 2-door Black Diamond sasquatch at the Off-Rodeo in Moab this past Spring [I think it was a '23]. It did that 2nd-3rd surge crawling forward a time or two. Most disconcerting. Seems like there should be a fix for that! My '24 2-door with a manual has...
  3. Fuel Milage MPG Gains from Ford ProCal Performance Tune

Got an improvement of ~2 mpg after the tune on my 2 dr. Badlands, with the manual. There was a real improvement while towing, too.
  4. Would you let the 2.3 be a dealbreaker ?

The 2.3L manual with the Ford Performance tune is pretty stout in my 2-dr Badlands. Tows well, and for a 4-cyl. engine doesn't sound too bad when you wind it out. I haven't driven a 2.3L with the automatic, but I imagine it'd be fine. We get about 20 mpg with it in mixed driving. My Dad's...
  5. Manual, 2DR, VB Badlands -- resell trap?

Got a 2-dr 7 MT Badlands in January, that I ordered (mid package). It's been terrific, and you might not want to give it up in 3-5 years. Or, maybe you will, who knows! Unless you really, really want the Lux package [my Dad has a Wildtrak with it], I'd say you'd likely be happy with the...
  6. Ford ProCal is now 50 State CARB approved!!

I installed the Pro-Cal tune in mid-June on my '24 Badlands, and it has rev-matching. That was very handy while towing on a long trip to the PNW early this month. The auto-start stop button setting stays put as well. The extra power has also been noticeable and welcome.
  7. Just finished Off-Rodeo Moab

Nice write up! Did the Moab Orr-Rodeo with Dave also (end of April), and we had an excellent experience with him. I got the only 2-dr. in the bunch, which only added to the experience, as a 2-dr. owner. Great photo of the dinosaur footprints he also showed us! Happy trails!
  8. Manny tranny owners, would you do it again?

I actually cancelled my '23 Badlands order when the 7MT was temporarily unavailable. Got a '24 now, and it's been very good. About 10 days ago had the '24 version Pro-Cal Ford Performance tune installed, and am impressed with the rev-matching downshifts - first time I've experienced that...
  9. 7MT - clutch slave cylinder failure

Good show! I did the same on an RC51 years ago. If it'd happen to my Bronco, I'd have it done professionally, too.
  10. 7MT - clutch slave cylinder failure

'24 Badlands with about 6300 miles, including about 2000 towing, and no issues. Will be paying attention, though. FWIW, slave cylinder failures are pretty common in my experience. A number of motorbikes are plagued with them [early 2000s Ducatis, for example], and I've seen them fail on 80s...
  11. What should I get before I finish her?

Depends on which sound deadening you get and if you do it yourself. You're in the range of $4/square foot, can be a little less or more depending on what deals you can find. The job's not real tough, actually, just some patience.
  12. What should I get before I finish her?

Dynamat the floor, makes a big difference if you're on the highway regularly.
  13. Automatic Vs Manual

This manual transmission really is good, or maybe I got lucky! Was going to order in '23, but when the manual option was gone from the order banks, I waited until I could order a '24 with it, and am very glad I did. It suits the character of the Bronco well, and the terrain here also...
  14. Sasquatch Tire conundrum

My Dad's sasquatch has had multiple punctures, and only has about 7500 miles on it. Even sharp gravel on his access road one time. Those Goodyears aren't the greatest for toughness. Maybe call Les Schwab and see if they have a set of suitable used tires you could buy? Sometimes, those are a...
  15. Would you Revert to Old Times?

Some, not all. I don't love the nannies - lane keep assist, etc., which I have turned off. I also wish my '24 had a CD player....yeah, I know I can mp3 my collection and run it off a thumb drive, which I will. My '79 Bronco [no longer have it] was a good truck, but the new one blows it away...
  16. 2.3 Exhaust preference

Anyone using the AWE "Climber," exhaust on a 2 dr., 2.3L? I have used their exhausts before and have really liked them. Maybe versus the Borla Touring?
  17. 2024 Badlands - to SAS or Not

I think suspension wise, you are correct - less than an additional inch of lift. Having 35" tires on the sasquatch units may help some as well. I would say sasquatch 2 doors feel a bit more softly sprung compared with the standard badlands suspension to my carcass, anyway.
  18. 2024 Badlands - to SAS or Not

A standard Badlands with 33s will get you a long ways. I did the Bronco Off-Rodeo this past Friday, and there was one standard Badlands in our group - they made it everywhere everyone else did with Sasquatch-equipped Broncos and didn't hit or drag. If you're going to modify anyway, then maybe...
  19. Debating on 2.3 vs 2.7 engine?

The 2.3L is fun to rev out, and makes good power - also not vibey at higher rpm. I just towed an enclosed motorcycle trailer to and from Thunderhill with mine and turning 3700 rpm in 4th (75 mph) to pull up and over steep slopes on I-80 didn't seem to phase it at all. (2 dr. Badlands, non-SAS)...
  20. Are the stock squatch tires really that bad?

    I think you're right!
