I installed the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 255/85s (pizza cutters) on stock non-Sas Badlands wheels when in Moab. I have a 1ā front lift (spacers) and get no rubbing at full flex with the crash bars still installed. Trail confirmed on Poison Spider.
Pics of the clearance at full lock on...
Iām probably older! And yes, itās a bit odd calling these beefy-looking Mickey Thompsons pizza cutters. With the big side lugs on them they look almost as wide as the stock 285s.
I love my pizza cutters! I put them on while in Moab last October (replaced the stock 33s) and noticed a big difference in rollover ease and ground clearance. In Moab itās hard for me to notice any traction difference as both the K02s and the Baja Boss A/Ts seemed to be equal. In winter...
Thatās exactly how a salesperson at our local dealer explained it to me. I was told about 10% of buyers use the factory-installed keypads. Like many here, I find that surprising as I use it all the time, but there you have it. Thatās across all Fordās model lineup, BTW.
I did Box Car Loop and Kamikaze yesterday. Moderate-hard ledges on them. Climbed and descended with ease - I was amazed that there was no knocks on the bottom as I certainly would have been hitting the control arm mounts and rear bumper recovery hooks if I was on the 33s. Climbing the ledges I...
Good points and good discussion. For consideration - look at the width of the tires used by the Ultra 4 vehicles as a guide to what racers use for widths.
The biggest advantage for me was the tire clearance sitting on stock Badlands non-SAS suspension with the 1ā front lift, and on stock 17.8...
Thanks, and yep - I have the 255s and not the 285s. I replaced the OEM BFG 285/70R17 with the 255/85R17s. Iāll correct my OP. Holiday brain at workā¦ :)
Iāve run them for three days on the rocks aired down to 18psi. I started the week on my K02s and cannot feel much difference in sidewall flex...
Iām in Moab right now and just replaced my stock 33ā KO2s with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT āpizza cuttersā in 255/85R17 (35ā diameter). Couldnāt be happier. They do not rub at full flex with the crash bars in (1ā lift in front) and Iāve noticed a significant improvement in both clearance...
When you are at Hellās Gate you can see there is not much room at the bottom of this hill to get āout of the wayā. The camera images make it seem like you approach this obstacle from the back when in reality you are at the bottom of a number of slickrock features. Thereās nowhere else to be...
Thanks for the response, @BroncoAZ.
So, perhaps my confusion lies in the LT designation on my OEM KO2s. Though I canāt seem to find the specs for BFG, I had assumed a tire designated LT would be at least a D rating, while P-designation is for lower load ratings like C. Are your tires also LTs?
The OEM KO2s on my 2021 non-sas Badlands are LTs, E-rated. Not sure about the previous comments on the āriskā with E-rated tiresā¦maybe I missed something?
My wife and I will be in Moab Sep 28-Oct 11 and would enjoy some company on the trails. If anyoneās interested in hooking up for some trails please let me know and we could make some plans. We like to get away from the big crowds and see some scenery (maybe small hikes) in addition to having fun...
I am wanting to go to true 35s x 10.5 or 11.5 on my stock Badlands 17x8 wheels, but the catch for me is I need to have a good 3-peak winter rated A/T tire in C or D rating. Canāt find any in this size that are currently available so Iām needing to go with the 285/75R17s. Likely the Nokian Outposts.
