A friend works for a small magnetics component manufacturer, the raw materials for which come from overseas and have for decades; almost none can be sourced here. The tariffs are hitting them hard, and of course the customers refuse to pay any increase. Consequently, they will eventually be...
I bought the wife a new Escape ST in March, and learned since that '25 might be the end of the line for Escape. So this line of thinking is probably correct.
(I lobbied hard for her to get a Bronco Sport Badlands, but she liked the Escape better all around. I will say that the Escape seems to...
OEM Ford jacks have been trash for a long time, even worse now.
I have a cheap 2-ton scissor jack that I bought from a parts store (forget the brand) that I use all over my property that is leaps and bounds better than a flimsy late model Ford Jack.
No kidding.
The local collector car outfit has a '99 XJ on the floor currently, but it's an automatic and has well over 300K on the clock (fresh engine overhaul). But it's got a rock solid body and the interior is nice. I'm having thoughts, even though it's overpriced....
EDIT: Apparently it's...
I was just thinking about this the other day regarding my JL Rubi. Arguably the most capable of the five Wranglers I've owned over 25+ years, yet has seen the least (i.e. none) real off roading compared to the rest.
I primarily use it as a tractor (pulling small stumps, etc.) more than anything...
And I still have dreams of finding a mint 2-door XJ with the 4.0 and manual.
The rear doors on a 4-door XJ were useless for anything but children, and they better not have big feet.
I can't imagine that Jeep would ever do away with the 2-door Wrangler. The mob with torches and pitchforks would be immense.
Yeah. I ordered my '23 JL (2-door Rubi ragtop) because Ford's dealers wanted to gouge on Bronco pricing at the time, yet couldn't give me any clear idea when or if an...
A friend is a VP of a small magnetics component manufacturer, and they are being hit hard already. Very few raw material suppliers in the US. They might not make it if something doesn't give.
The irony is one of their biggest customers is the US military, many of their parts are used in missile...
Kind of a dumb feature, IMO.
Once I was accelerating briskly onto a freeway on-ramp in my F150 and a large bird flew across right in front of the camera, triggering it. Scared the living hell out of me. I had to double check that I had defeated it as much as possible.
I tend to think I know...
I think what he was getting at there was the ridiculous amount of tech/electronics present in new vehicles, and the durability thereof.
I have a 58 year old Mercury that still functions fully as it did when it was new. I have concerns that the '15 Mustang that sits next to it won't have near...
