I got the badlands due to the width and everyday drivability. The Braptor is great but it’s too wide for most trails and is geared if you have a lot of open desert nearby. The 8112’s certainly bridge the gap, they now make the bronco faster And more controlled offroad than I’m even comfortable...
Such a fun day filming in the desert with you, @popo_patty . Honestly, I'm yet to hit the limits of what the 8112's are capable of. They are so confidence inspiring I'm scared of breaking something else . Can't wait to get more seat time in them and I'm so happy I didn't need to have...
Just incase you missed it I ran into the Bilstein guys in Johnson Valley and we did a little video shoot with these bad boys. If you have any questions DM me. I've gotten more seat time with the 8112 DSA+ and WOW, what they do to uplevel the platform is truly insane.
I have not yet but I plan to next month and do a comparison vid, same suspension test at same speed & PSI. I did drive a Gen 1 Raptor though with a STAGE 9 ICON kit and the BILSTEINS are much more smooth in most everything. Lets just say my buddy in the Raptor road with me most the weekend.
Running them on what Bilstein recommends out of the box, not fully open. High speed, BLUE, -6 clicks out from fully firm. Low speed, YELLOW, -13 clicks out from fully firm. JCO -6 clicks out from fully firm.
Small bump sensitivity on road is vastly improved. I'm running at 36 PSI as well. Good example is the gaps getting on a bridge or onramp it doesn't jar you anymore.
Alright, here’s my ride report after putting about 1,500 miles on the 8112s, with 150 of those off-road
On-Road Comfort & Performance:
The ride feels similar to the stock SAS but with significantly better handling in corners and much less nose dive under hard braking. Also, small bump...
That sounds like a dialed set up! You'll be pleased with these for sure. They ride so well. My buddy in his Stage 9 built raptor could not believe the performance.
Well hot dang, I’m fresh off spending 3 days out at KOH and am still reliving the abuse I put these 8112’s through.
I can confidently say, my expectations were far exceeded. Confidence off-road and on has gone way up! They exceeded the performance of my buddiesGEN 1 raptor on the STAGE 9 ICON...
Mine sits completely level and The measurement I'm taking is from the rock rail front and back to the ground. I'll get pics later today. The body roll and brake dive are substantially less than the factory Bilsteins. It honestly handles pretty damn good around turns compared to stock and I'm...
To answer your question, no I do not work for Bilstein. What @SierraBronco states about the lack of rubber bushing is 100% correct. The 8112 is a Performance Race shock that will give you significantly more control on/off road hence the lack of rubber bushing it bolts direct to the A-Arm and...
For those eager to dive deeper into the details of these game-changing Bronco shocks, here’s the full press release. These are the ONLY shocks on the market featuring Position Sensitive Damping (PSD) — a system that offers unmatched performance across all driving conditions eliminating the need...
@elbroncodor Have you taken it in to get an alignment yet and drive it? Mine was like that but has settled to be perfectly level and spot on with the measurements they provided in the instructions. Also, I don’t have any additional weight other than the roof rack. No heavy bumpers or winch.
Still looking for a Bronco in NorCal area with the Ride setup to put head to head with my set up.
So far, these Bilstein 8112’s have been leagues above anything I’ve ridden in on and off road due to the 5 valving zones.
No need to revalve these bad boys.
- Triple piston design for 3 compression...
Awesome! Thanks for reaching out and getting these details. Do you mind if I update these on the OG post?
Also, be on the lookout for a comprehensive suspension SHOOTOUT between these and the top brands. Controlled environment, same tire size & pressure, same speed, same obstacles. Lets see...
