  1. Built in the USA-How important is it for you?

Man, I don't know how to tell you this, but one typically isn't intended to take jokes seriously. It kinda ruins the point. :p And while I can overlook the fact that you disagree, I simply cannot overlook your glaring omission of RC Cola. I mean seriously, you included sprite but not RC? Heresy.
  2. Why do they have such a hard time deciding to put the 5.0 in?

We're not sure how reliable the 5.0 is yet. It's only been on the market since 2011 or so, and that hasn't given many people time to get them over 4-500k miles. It still might turn out to be a dud. :p
  3. Anybody not make a reservation?

I have not reserved one. Watching the launch, I planned to reserve immediately if a diesel or v8 option was announced, even as a special edition, at any price. Otherwise I'd probably reserve within the first few days once I had a better idea of which trim to get. The reveal confirmed that there...
  4. Catalytic Converter Theft (Warning: Potential Stupid Question)

Move to a state that doesn't begin with "The People's Republic of..." Not only will you keep the state's grubby hands off your car, free states have MUCH lower crime rates and catalytic converter theft isn't really much of a problem in most places.
  5. Upstate SC

EDIT: At the request of George Coleman Ford, I have redacted the details of my grievance. Although I still cannot in good conscience recommend purchasing a vehicle there, they did contact me and make a very commendable good-faith effort to rectify my complaint. In light of the genuine attempt...
  6. Upstate SC

You didn't reserve with George Coleman Ford did you? EDIT: At the request of George Coleman Ford, I have redacted the details of my grievance. Although I still cannot in good conscience recommend purchasing a vehicle there, they did contact me and make a very commendable good-faith effort to...
  7. "Fleet" Option

So any speculations on how much the "Landslide" package will be, and how it compares to the Sasquatch?
  8. Built in the USA-How important is it for you?

It would be a dealbreaker if it wasn't. I have VERY in-depth firsthand knowledge of how Japanese manufacturing is run and even putting aside the fact that they have a culture of deliberately treating their workers as poorly as possible, the products themselves are engineered to shave off every...
  9. Photos: Legroom and Headroom For Tall People in the 2021 Bronco

It is nice to know that there is enough room in the front for an adult, unlike many cars (looking at you, Grand Cherokee). What we all really want, though, is to see this guy show off the rear legroom by cramming into the back seats. Ford has been very elusive about rear legroom, which means...
  10. 2020 Ford Reliability / Quality Ratings from J.D. Powers & Consumer Reports

I should probably clarify; I wasn't suggesting that Consumer Reports is paid-for to a greater degree -- it's hard to beat "entirely paid-for" like JD Power. If CR is a paid review at all then they've done an incredible job of covering that up for years. What I was suggesting is that Consumer...
  11. The New Ford Bronco Is An Obscene Monument to Climate Denialism - Vice Article

Ah, yes, Vice: a bastion of intellectualism and journalistic integrity. The target audience for Vice are the same people who get their news from Buzzfeed and bathroom walls. These are people just this side of literate, so it's not likely that this drivel is going to change many minds on the...
  12. First Thoughts After the Reveal

I also expect the price to come down into the semi-competitive range. There will be a little extra charge because it's made by Ford, but a little extra is worth it. Full disclosure; I get X-Plan pricing and won't pay all of the premiums and markups anyway, but a whole lot of people will walk...
  13. First Thoughts After the Reveal

So after seeing the reveal, most of us are left with some thoughts regarding the new info. To start, this thing looks absolutely incredible. The design is way better than expected even after seeing all the leaks and renders. It is certainly -- subjectively -- the best-looking SUV on the market...
  14. Bronco6G Live Reveal Viewing Party (With Giveaways)! 🥳

Come on Ford, show me a V8! Any V8! I don't care if it makes 52 horsepower and runs on whale oil, I'll reserve today if a V8 is announced.
  15. 2020 Ford Reliability / Quality Ratings from J.D. Powers & Consumer Reports

"J.D. Powah? ...It's pretty much a made-up award." Seriously, though, it's advertising disguised as "reviews." Consumer Reports is even worse.
  16. Jeep [Trolls Bronco With] Reveals 6.4-liter V-8 Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I like it. I'd never buy one, but Jeep is offering something that Ford likely won't, at least at first -- though I do hope to be surprised in about five hours from now. Maybe, just maybe, a 392 in a Wrangler will be the kick in the pants Ford needs to put an...
  17. 2.3 EcoBoost vs 2.7 EcoBoost - Poll

You are correct; the burden of proof is on me. I can't be arsed to provide a ton of evidence, but here are a few examples of what I'm talking about.. Examples of low-mileage failures: https://www.ecoboostmustang.org/forum/issues-problems/7729-spun-rod-bearing.html...
  18. 2.3 EcoBoost vs 2.7 EcoBoost - Poll

Laminar, you are exactly correct. The 2.3 EcoBoost and the 2.3 Duratec are virtually identical short blocks. The reason that the Duratec, as well as the "turbo Duratec" EcoBoost almost always spin rod #3 is that the oil galleys are incorrectly designed and tend not to properly lubricate the...
  19. 2.3 EcoBoost vs 2.7 EcoBoost - Poll

I can't really comment on that as I don't have a ton of experience with the 2.7. For comparison, I have had the 2.3 non-turbo and the 5.0 at the same time and the mileage was within 1-2mpg of being the same. I'd expect that the 2.7 uses very slightly more fuel than the 2.3, but not enough for it...
