  1. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I just received a follow up from the NHTSA to my submission regarding my engine failure asking for additional information. Has anyone else who submitted received a similar inquiry? This is roughly 1 year after submission to the NHTSA -
  2. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

My window issue has returned, back to the dealership for service for a 3rd time and off to the lemon lawyer's office.
  3. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I had this same issue with my window and it required a reset by the dealer of the window controller. Seems to be another repetitive issue with the G6.
  4. FINAL UPDATE: Complete Engine Failure - SAS Big Bend - 3wk Old / 1000mi / 2.7L EcoBoost

Reasonable and logical would be to expect a brand new engine not to fail after less than 3,500 miles. I haven't asked for anything that hasn't been afforded to other victims of the same catastrophic failure so not sure where your "emotional" suggestion comes in.
  5. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Same with mine, nearly 6,000 miles on the replacement engine with no engine issues.
  6. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Wall street journal has picked up the story: https://www.wsj.com/articles/federal-regulators-investigating-ford-bronco-over-reports-of-catastrophic-engine-failure-11658844489?siteid=yhoof2 New USDOT Report of Investigation: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2022/INOA-PE22007-7888.PDF
  7. FINAL UPDATE: Complete Engine Failure - SAS Big Bend - 3wk Old / 1000mi / 2.7L EcoBoost

I don't believe I ever received the same open offer to assist from the "Ford Official Account". WHen my 2.7L blew, my engine was replaced and they gave me 29 days worth of my monthly payment, which makes no sense because if I had put less money down on my purchase, you would have paid me more...
  8. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Mine was in 27 days and they let me drive the demo bronco they had on their lot while mine was getting the new engine. The demo is one of the ones they got to display but aren't allowed to sell for 6 months. So I received rental car coverage and they offered to make my payment for the 27 day...
  9. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I didn't finance with Ford and they made me that payment offer so keep pushing and they should cave. The Ford customer care agent is asking me for the backup to show the value of my monthly payment so they can cut me a check, but I want to see what paperwork they're going to want to sign first...
  10. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

What are you asking for from Ford? I didn't get an oil change offer, but they did offer to cover the car payment I made while my Bronco was getting the engine replaced. I just got mine back a week ago now. Anyone else in this thread looking to combine our collective discontent?
  11. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I'm still waiting on my replacement engine but was told today that I also need a new torque inverter that is backordered until 3/26. Nothing about a fuel pump, but wouldn't be surprised by more notifications coming. Looks like I get to drive this loaner Bronco that much longer.
  12. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I wouldn't plan any long distance off-road adventures any time soon. I hadn't even taken mine off road yet. This failure might be like getting a Covid diagnosis. Most people would rather just get it over with at this point.
  13. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Updated my original post with the photo of the engine serial number.
  14. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I will definitely be reporting. The fact that they haven’t recalled this yet is alarming.
  15. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

No fumes or smoke. A couple of weird knocks but that’s about it. Dealership has tried to manually rotate the pistons and it’s bound up. They’ll be scoping and/or dropping the oil pans today to look for debris and make the call about the conditon. I do have the extended warranty and maintenance...
  16. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

No, just like the others, the engine completely died and would not restart. All the electronics on the dash seemed fine, radio, AC, etc. But even after letting it rest, No restart. You can hear the starter clicking trying to turn the engine, but no luck. At the dealership, first tech under the...
  17. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Looks like you can add my ‘21 Badlands to the list. I took delivery in late Nov. and with roughly 3,200 miles, my 2.7L died on me in the middle of driving. “Trailer Brake System Failure” keeps reappearing on the display. Dealership has it now and I should know tomorrow if I had a bad valve and...
