You can find everything in this thread explaining why people have switched to Granger. It's the two things you mentioned but maybe even a bigger factor is the transparency we get from Granger (which in turn alleviates headaches). ;)
I will say that there are times when I'm coming down the mountains from a ski/snowboard day, run into heavy stop and go traffic with heavy snow coming down... and my wipers freeze up and are ineffective. I can see how heated blades may be good in that scenario.
Outside of the reliability and costs associated with some of these features... they may be life saving (which is hard to put a price on of course).
