ABS: anti-lock...
Okay... Look at your axle... front and rear..... see how the axle goes right to the center of the wheel? That is true with every single vehicle there is right?
If you want to increase clearance (the area between the ground and the bottom of the Bronco/axle) you have to get that axle up right...
If you are calculating out to the hub it would be about a 5.73....
Interesting thing though... I have not changed any of the gear ration in the procal... OR the tire size... computer still reads 4.7 and 35s.... and my speedo is darn near accurate.
So question for all you smart guys out there. With the portals in the equation. What does the final drive be considered? Right now I have 4.7 in the rear and I know the portals do the gearing at the tires but what would be the equivalent rear to what we end up with at the tire?
Just curious!
Let me post the offical description of the modes and transfer case operation. This is a good read for everyone so you are not questioning whether you should or should not be driving in a particular mode.
There should be zero issue using Sport mode or 4A all the time on roads if you don’t care...
I enjoyed the edification and knowledge gained from your and Stephanie's video. Thanks. I note you have the Icon Exp rear shocks (and I assume front, as well). I'm seriously considering those, since I want a nicer ride and only a 1 inch or so lift for my 33" tires (OBX). Are you pleased with...
Hey guys here's a video of my wife and I removing the M220 rear axle and swapping in a "new" one. It's the second video in our series on re-gearing and axle-swapping our '21 Ford Bronco Base. This video covers the process, in-depth, of removing and and re-installing the M220 rear axle assembly...
This looks good. I'm interested to hear more about this setup. Are these still 17" wheels? offset? It doesn't look like a lift; are they just stuffed under the stock suspension? Rubbing?
What gearing is your rearend and any observations on low end with the 37s? Is it Sas or MT (4.7)...
A Jeep (particularly the 3.6L) cannot handle 37's without re-gearing and even then it is a struggle if at altitude. I had 4.88 gears at sea level and 5.13 at 7K feet.
You have 4.7 gears and an engine that produces plenty of torque. I think you will be fine.
I appreciate your input. I have a 4 door, 2023 Badlands Sasquatch with the 2.7l engine. I noticed you mention you wouldn’t necessarily upgrade any of this stuff on the factory Sasquatch; however, do you believe steering should still be upgraded if you still keep the 35 tire diameter but it...
Yes. OP, the rear locker will be useless for you (as it probably is for most people). And you're not going to want to engage it on ice and go sideways.
Maybe a case could be made for the deeper gearing, think about if you might want larger diameter tires at some point.
Also someone mentioned...
The ride on the bilsteins is acceptable. It has all the usual characteristics of the stock sasquatch suspension, noticeable brake dive, noticeable front end lift on accel, soft and flexy. All these characteristics seem exagerated by the portals/40s combo, whether it is the additional unsprung...
How's the rub on the tires? I need to order and still on the fence.
Went to finish this afternoon and found that I was shorted the banjo bolts for the rear brakes🤬 so order them and will have Monday, of course no one had local. Hope to put her in her tires Monday night or Tuesday at the...
Yup, this is what I found as well. You can add a locker to the standard (non-ELD) Bronco rearend, but there were three things that made it not worth it for me
- You weren't really saving any money over just buying an entire new rearend - the lockers are not cheap, and you need an entire new...
This is true - all the aftermarket stuff is going to be aimed at the ELD-fitted rigs. And just about everything about the ELD-fitted rearend is just-different-enough from the standard one.
Kind of like most of the aftermarket stuff is geared towards the MIC hard top, the Modular bumper, etc.
You want the 4.27 with a locker for other reasons than gearing. The 4.27 gears are not welded to the carrier and you get different length rear shafts with the locker. Long term servicing will be cheaper and parts more available for locking rearend as most of the broncos made have a rear locker...
