  1. Disconcerting video - Broken GOAT mode during off roading?

All those warnings that popped up (service advance Trac, blah blah blah) came up in my 2015 F150 3-4 years ago in a sleet/rain storm when the roads were nasty. No codes were found and it never happened again (I pulled over, shut down, started up and everything was back to normal).
  2. Towing capacity

If you're 500 over the tow limit, you will probably be over GVWR if you have a proper tongue weight and GCWR too.
  3. Bronco vs Wrangler - Door and Roof Removal Comparison by Car and Driver

Nothing. But the way that read to me, given the context in which it was used (that the Bronco is more like the Wrangler than anything else Ford offers), is that the Bronco has a solid front axle...which, as we all know, it does not. That the author wrote it taints everything else that is...

I thought that was a no-go due to inadequate support at speed....
  6. Changing your own oil?

I don't think that would fit under 2 of my 4 vehicles...(that Jetta is low...) Do they just have a drum that you can empty that into? I used to be able to drop containers at the transfer station but they stopped taking it several years ago. (maybe I'll start doing my own maintenance again...
  7. Changing your own oil?

This is one of the reasons I stopped changing my own oil when I got my first F150...it takes nearly 8 qts, my drain pan does not hold that much (yes, I know, get a bigger one). Plus my F150 does not fit in my garage. Once I stopped changing oil on my truck, it followed that I stopped changing...
  8. Toyota Cavalry Blue and Area 51 Compared Side by Side

Thanks for posting, there's a Cavalry Blue Tacoma in my garage...looks a lot better with the 4Runner TRD Pro wheels though. I won't be going A51. If they had something similar to Toyota's Cement Gray, I'd think about that (would have to see it on a Bronco though).
  9. Anyone taught their wife to drive a Manual Trans?

My wifes truck is a manual. I am using her Tacoma to try to teach my daughter how to drive a manual though...30 minutes at a time is about all I can handle but she is making progress.
  10. B6G Poll: can you drive a manual or not?

I can. My wife can. My 16 y.o. daughter sorta can (work in progress), my 18 y.o. son cannot really and is not all that willing to try because he didn't pick it up instantly. (My wife's Tacoma is a manual. When I get a Bronco, it will be an auto simply because I'd rather not have two...
  11. Bronco engineered to beat Wrangler's VCI (traversing soft terrain) according to member on Wranglerforums

Yeah, that was the one I was thinking of. I knew I had it wrong but couldn't remember what it was...
  12. Bronco engineered to beat Wrangler's VCI (traversing soft terrain) according to member on Wranglerforums

so with a long arm setup, your normal, resting position can be roughly the same width, you just have to push those arms down more. Wasn't the guy they kept mentioning as having run Sledgehammer(?) without winching running an IFS rig? Bailey Cole I think it was?

  14. Anyone else reconsidering due to lack of payload?

Payload is GVWR-curb weight. Curb weight includes all fluids required for operation including a full tank of gas and any factory installed options and accessories but nothing else, it does not include passengers (and neither does "available payload"). Not sure where you're getting your...
  15. Black Diamond Builds

I understand the difference in what SAS includes at each trim level. What does a BL have that a BD does not if both have SAS, Mid and 2.7 to justify the $3k difference in price (basically identical options added to each results in the BL costing $3k more than the BD), only thing I come up with...
  16. Black Diamond Builds

So according to the weight data, a loaded BD 4-dr weighs 2lb less than a loaded BL 4-dr but has a lower GVWR....(by loaded, I mean the column base +OPT) Other than sway bar disco, anything a BL SAS Mid has that a BD SAS Mid does not? $3k difference in price seems a lot. Mine would be SAS...
  17. HELP.... Final order soon. BD vs BL for the last time.

Really depends on how you plan on driving and how hardcore you plan on offroading. Thousands of guys will run 33's on the 190 with no issues at all. A few will grenade the front diff. A few will also grenade the 210. Is the 190 used in the Ranger? If so, that would be a great place to look...
  18. Engine Block Heater value?

Plan to avoid. Live in Maine, have never needed one yet....and my vehicles are outside all the time.
  19. Anyone else reconsidering due to lack of payload?

LMAO. Good luck. Even if you can make payload, you probably won't make GCWR...
  20. Engine Block Heater value?

objects do not see wind chill values, they do not drop below actual air temp. people "feel" wind chill values because we generate heat and the wind removes heat faster by not allowing an air layer to set up around us thus making it "feel" colder than it actually is. but a sitting vehicle...nope.
