We have plenty of people claiming that it's cheaper to make and stock one part for anything from engines to dome lights, I'm sure a simple metal hinge can get lumped in with the rest of the "they can't make a part for every interest, so we all get this one" to justify why they should be built to...
It would be pretty stupid to still be showing parts that didn't have final approval in media material at this point a few days from launch.
eta -- and a launch several months later than intended at that.
Auto makers can't even make an autonomous system for predictable paths like roads that don't come with a clause telling the driver to remain fully engaged or it's their own fault, this off road autonomous system is 100% wishful thinking.
They seem to be aiming more at the Land Rovers with features like this. Hopefully they aren't plagued with the same issues and repair costs.
Strawman = bad
More parts and complicated systems to accomplish something simple is rarely a durable design.
Yeah ... you'll probably just be expected to go to a stealership and pay them $200 to push a button.
They've seen what Tazer is doing for JL owners ... I'm expecting Ford to want to capture more pieces of that pie for themselves and the Thieves Guild.
