  1. Northern California dealership discussion

The GM is an unscrupulous liar in that case and I would encourage NOBODY to use the dealership for anything unless you are sure they are losing money on it.
  2. Jumping Ship? - What's Your Plan B Vehicle Purchase?

I am going with a new Tundra with Hybrid. It should get 25+ mpg and also be great for the light offroading i'll be doing.
  3. Mike Levine saying outright he does NOT care about Granger/Chapman/SAC

The big elephant in the room is the internet and social media. Technically, Granger isn't supposed to be targetting outside its sales area, and Granger would never break this rule by placing ads in California newspapers for example. Social media is much more grey because people can find and...
  4. Mike Levine saying outright he does NOT care about Granger/Chapman/SAC

State laws govern allocations so that an OEM can't arbitrarily kill a dealer via cutting off supply. Generally, the rules say the allocation needs to be fairly applied and based on sound business reasons. The takeaway here is that Ford likely got heavy pushback from litigious dealers who...
  5. Mike Levine saying outright he does NOT care about Granger/Chapman/SAC

It's highly upsetting to see Ford deride a dealership for offering a good deal but say nothing about dealers screwing customers with last minute upcharges. Ford strategy seems to be: 1) Big city dealers that serve a largely captive wealthy market are good, it's great that they can use this...
  6. This is the worst dealer I have seen yet

Anyone subjected to things like this should quickly file a complaint with the state car dealer licensing board and any relevant state attorneys. Anytime you are defrauded by a dealership in any way you should do this, even down to the point of when you are bait and switched into coming to the...
  7. Dealer price gouging

Ford seems to have uniquely bad dealers. The Bronco is the third time that I tried to buy a Ford car and had the deal killed due to dealer shenanigans. In this case, my dealer waited until the Bronco showed up and added $5k, but in the past there were other things like lying about vehicle...
  8. [Updated With Outcome in Part 2 Video] Dealer marks up former employee's Bronco by $10k

I can totally understand dealers adding markup to vehicles, but this guy put down a $1000 deposit for a vehicle and was blindsided with a price increase. I would have flipped and lawyered up. allocations were based heavily on reservations too, so it’s not like he was taking up a scarce allocation.
  9. [Updated With Outcome in Part 2 Video] Dealer marks up former employee's Bronco by $10k

No signed order agreement, but Grangers first email to me was within a few minutes of reserving and they explicitly said the order would be invoice -$1000. I’m sure when I put in an actual order for MY2022 they will formally extend the pricing.
  10. [Updated With Outcome in Part 2 Video] Dealer marks up former employee's Bronco by $10k

My dealer pulled this and my advice is to not play the dealership game unless you desperately need a car NOW. These will be all over the place in the next few years, there’s no way it’s worth getting hosed by a dealer and potentially being upside down on a loan in the future. I walked away and...
  11. Yes! Found someone a bronco with just minimum ADM!

Insane that these dealerships are marking up Broncos beyond what a VERY nicely equipped Lanrdrover Defender costs. At $115k, you can get a 2dr supercharged V8 from Land Rover lmao.
  12. How many of you will be making two car payments?

I'm torn on this. I love my Model 3, but owning multiple vehicles as a single person w/o kids is logistically annoying. For the subtle financial flex that seems popular in this thread: I sell weekly covered calls on 2k shares of Ford stock that roughly equal my expected payment lol.
  13. At my local dealer

I have no idea what the market is for an $80k Bronco. I can get a very nicely equipped Land Rover defender for the same money, or practically any other SUV I want at a lower price. My dealer is attempting to sell my order for $30k ADM after I declined to pay $5k ADM. they are delusional.
  14. Fremont Ford - email today

I don't think it has even arrived at the dealer yet. It's supposed to show up by Friday. I am not sure if they have sold it yet, I doubt it if they are hinging the decision on $30k markup for a not particularly rare soft top Bronco. They immediately decided to cancel my order when i refused to...
  15. Fremont Ford - email today

I don't want to post my text messages with the dealer, but I said I would be happy to drop everything and come purchase at MSRP, but would not be willing to pay any markup. They went ahead and canceled my order after that. I never asked them to cancel my order.
  16. Fremont Ford - email today

Yes, my order was "canceled" in the sense that I refused to pay $5k over MSRP. Fremont Ford is terrible. RIP anyone else who put in a reservation with them and doesn't want to pay $5k ADM. I feel bad that my reservation helped get them additional allocations (30% of reservation count counts...
  17. Bronco Sales Price

Consumer sentiment dropped sharply in August and September is traditionally slow for auto sales. I would not be surprised at all if a lot of dealers charging huge ADM quietly drop them after labor day.
  18. Fremont Ford - email today

Imagine the memories created by taking a bronco from Des Moines, over the rocky mountains and through the sierra nevadas to California. Can't beat that!
  19. Fremont Ford - email today

If you already ordered, not much you can do. I made a new reservation at Granger, but the reservation system is closed now :( I think the auto market will slow down in September so it’s possible there might be a pullback, but if these guys manage to get $30k ADM, the market is truly on fire and...
