  1. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

IF there is a head porosity issue, that might account for the loss of coolant. Porosity issues have happened with most manufacturers that use cast heads. I was thinking this a few pages ago, but if there is a void in the head next to a valve stem, that could cause a failure of the valve like...
  2. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

Rofl thats a hilarious pic. Not for the owner of that though
  3. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

The problem may have the same root cause as well, or as others have said, it could be secondary to the valve failure. Either way, the only people with the answers can't or won't talk about it.
  4. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

If it was a tuning/ecu issue I'd expect to see the spark plug straps and electrodes utterly melted. The ones that have been floating around here looks like the electrodes were battered but not melted. Which leads me to believe a valve issue. It's not hard to imagine a bad valve with a crack in...
  5. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

I think he means cylinder 5. Is that a head of one of the blown engines?
  6. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

Yea and unfortunately they are silent on this so far.
  7. Video by Lite Brite: Trail Damage on Our Ford Bronco & New Rock Sliders!

I'm the opposite, I'd like a set that comes out a bit further and maybe even frame mounts or something. I'm like 2 hours-ish from Johnson Valley, would like to put mine to the test. Also, people in parking lots here give absolutely zero fucks, would love to not have to worry about someone...
  8. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

That's just the year and day code of manufacture. So yours was built the same day as someone else's that blew.
  9. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

It appears that way but that doesn't mean that will occur 100% of the time. I think there is a narrowing field of possible causes. We know its likely a head/valvetrain issue. As opposed to a block, bottom end, tuning, etc etc. I don't have a dog in the fight here since I have a 2.3L. I was...
  10. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

Yea exactly, I think the issues are going to be worse as time goes on. If its a vale problem it will be pretty isolated. But it seems to not have a particular pattern at this point. It appeared to have two windows of failure. New ones appear to be stretching out of that window. I've not...
  11. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

I dont think it would be out of the realm of possibilities for a serious enough failure to either crack the head or block to a cooling passage. I've never had one of these engines apart so I don't know first hand... but I have has several LS motors apart and the steel liners are not super thick...
  12. Offroad tire pressure

Going by my TPMS I don't really see much of a change when crawling. its stays about the same all the way through unless I start going over 30mph. Then it will start picking up pressure.
  13. Another Broken Axle / CV Joint

Need you over on the 2.7L grenade thread: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/2-7l-blown-engine-fail-list-28-so-far-jan-19-update.31951/
  14. 2.7L blown engine fail list . . 31 so far [Jan 21 update]

I forget the user name of that guy but he is on here. The way I remember it sounding when I read his reply post, it sounded like a bearing issue as there was knock on startup.
  15. Carli Suspension coming

Yea I searched and found that, wonder if he ever got the rears as well. I had hoped that the coilovers would be quick since some of the info was out there with fun haver and such, but it appears that the aftermarket is going to take some time. I would order from them, but as I said, a buddy...
  16. Carli Suspension coming

Perhaps they are sponsored drivers or shops (ie camburg, brenthel (bajakits), rtr, stuff like that. I've not seen many other than that. Every listing is for pre-order or on extended back order. SDHQ lists fox as "new arrival" but I know for a fact that the 2 door setups are at least summer/fall...
  17. Offroad tire pressure

On rocks, yes. It allows the tire to fold over and grip a rock. OP- I run mine at 16psi (on a Milton gauge) it shows 18psi on the dash (via TPMS). It varies a lot based on tire selection, load rating of tires, and terrain. For me. Out west here on hard pack dirt/granite and rocks. I have had...
  18. Another Broken Axle / CV Joint

Yea I wasn't saying the CV is different. But the other reply, you said you were reluctant to get a 33 inch-ish tire. The CV angles should be the same since the suspension is the same. Just the added weight of the wheel and different offset (I'm running 0 offset) will increase some of the stress...
  19. Another Broken Axle / CV Joint

I have 285/70r17s on mine. I'm still stock suspension height though. They seem to be fine. I have have about 2k miles on it as it sits, about 3 offroad trips to some mild/intermediate trails. If you drive reasonably it's not a big deal. I don't hammer the throttle and bounce over stuff.
  20. 2.7L Tick on cold start up

That sucks. Seems the 2.7s are having some issues. Hopefully you get it ironed out
