It's definitely an interesting case haha. I guess at the end of the day, like you said, as long as we enjoy the cars that's what matters. I think the best thing for it is a turbosmart BOV/BPV for anyone it irritates too much.
Happy to hear the hood pad helped a bit too!
Broncos are great, and I'm happy you and everyone else are enjoying them.
However, this sound is still very irritating and kind of concerning. I've basiaclly only owned turbo 4-5 cylinder cars and I've never ever heard such a loud BPV.
The concensus is that it's "normal" but obviously super annoying and I wish Ford would resolve it. You can get hood sound insulation and a turbosmart BOV or BPV.

Just tried to find other posts about this. It seems like some people’s waste gates get stuck and have to be replaced, or have their turbo replaced. They’re usually at low mileage though so can’t say it’s the same issue. I’ll find the video I took of the sound my engine made with the turbo smart...
nope lol. I tried to replace it with a turbo smart bypass valve, but that just caused turbo flutter. Not sure if the blow off valve would be better (probably not). You could also try sound deadening for the hood. That would probably make it slightly more tolerable. I’m surprised does still...
Just as Dustin said, it is very pronounced in the cabin. basically all the cars I have owned are turbo 4 cylinders, and I have never heard the BPV that clearly inside the cabin. It is not normal.
I will say, I don't think anyone is experiencing any serious "issues", but it is concerning at...
I actually had this conversation with my friend last night. If it was installed incorrectly, it would be leaking, causing either a lack of boost or no boost, which I don’t think any of us are experiencing. I still think the issue is a sticking BPV but I could be wrong. I mean what else could it be?
I would tell them the recirculation valve is making an abnormal loud clicking sound. Tell them to check the charge pipe, which is the tubing the valve is connected to . That seems to be the problem from what im understanding. I installed aftermarket, and it had other problems with fluttering. I...
Not a dumb question at all! BPV is a Bypass valve, it has so many names lol. Basically instead of sending out a certain amount of air into the atmosphere like a BOV, it recirculates it back into the turbo to prevent fluttering/damage to the turbo. Usually stock cars come with BPV for the quieter...
Oh really? I assumed it was electronically operated. I think it would cause turbo fluttering. I installed the aftermarket turbosmart recirculation valve, it had no click but had suuuper bad turbo flutter at high RPMs which is very concerning, so i went back to stock. Ill probably go through...
So it SHOULD be, but the dealer told me that they dont know if the popping is a problem (which it is) and if the part does not fix the sound, then they will charge me for it. I told them to go and rev any other 2.3 in the lot and let me know if they make that sound. The tech said “uh yeah i dont...
I got the part but they’re tryna charge me 400 bucks to install it so I don’t know if I’m gonna do it. I might be moving to a GR86. But hey if this fixes it hell yeah!
