Trektop owner here with a 2dr. From my experience the initial install of the Trektop took about 5-6 hours. The removal and reinstall between soft to hard/hard to soft went by much more quickly, maybe 2hrs.
Basebase. For 32k it was a deal plus I don't feel so bad thrashing it around FS roads, dunes and lava fields. Any more $$ and I'd be tempted to keep it on pavement. The basesquatch might be an even better bargain but so far I haven't needed the extra kit.
Another reason was to hopefully speed...
I have a trektop. The sides can be left on and the rear removed. There aren't any zippers on the trektop but a channel snap system. The rear panel can be undone and folded up and over the roof to access the cargo space.
Of course I wish it were a little bigger. Have to be more mindful of fuel level and available upcoming stations on my longer trips. Had to turn around for gas a few weeks ago before becoming stranded in BFE central Oregon.
Chuck and Emily at at Fuller Ford in Cincinnati, OH were awesome to work with. I had recently moved out of state after placing my reservation with their dealership. They worked to find a dealer near me (Idaho) to accept delivery and waived the destination/delivery fees entirely! Can't thank...
Swapped out soft to hard top this week. Whole process took maybe 90 minutes. Left on all the weather stripping that was adhered to the truck with no issue. Seems to help seal up around the base of the hardtop and reduce wind noise!
That's mine! I'll have to get back with you on ease of switching back to the hardtop. From what I've read it's not too difficult. Most if not all the mounting hardware will have to come off but I should be able to keep the weather stripping in place. It's an aftermarket top, Bestop Trektop...
