It's not so much settling for something, it's about having something utilitarian around for bad weather, quick drives to the store, etc. so I don't need to take out the Corvette or pull the cover off the Mustang to be able to drive it. The short trips are hard on exhausts and engine oil...
As I posted in the big Levine thread, I don't *need* a new vehicle. BUT, I would like to have something smaller than my wife's CVN-sized F-150 SCrew for more convenience when running around town.
I'd like to have utility along the lines of the Bronco's interior storage with the seats down...
I have to say that for the first time since the July release, the rock stars have pushed me to the point of considering not converting my two reservations into orders. They have taken most of the enjoyment out of what for me is a completely discretionary toy purchase.

Following up on NayNay's last comment:
No. 1 problem that leads to all the hate: Old school sales techniques.

In fairness, they are on their 3rd one because a LR dealer technician cut through a major wiring harness that LR decided couldn't be repaired (which itself is not a great endorsement of the serviceability of the design ...).
So the current tally is:
1 unreliable Defender
1 Defender jacked-up...
I only purchase extended warranties (more accurately an Insurance policy) from the vehicle manufacturer, because warranty companies come and fold like leaves on a tree.
If you go the route of the Ford warranty, shop around before you go in to purchase the vehicle. There are huge profit margins...
Why wouldn't you for something like this? I'm WELL aware of the issues regarding his word on timing and other things that haven't borne out. But EVERY manufacturer offers additional colors and trim options over the life of a vehicle.
The only question in my mind is whether they will be...
What's interesting to me here is that the OP says that *both* turbos are shot.
That suggests to me that the turbos are not the source of the problem, but symptoms/victims of something else. The odds of a rather rare turbo failure out of the literally millions of these units on the road...
