No argument here, and I'm not defending the average Jeeper's attitude toward the Bronco.
All the Jeep vs Ford sh!t talking doesn't even make sense IMO until the new Bronco actually arrives and we get some real life info on it.
I am a member on Wrangler Forum. As much as y'all poop on SFA here, they poop on IFS over there. (I'm not a serious offroader, so don't really care.)
Edit: There is a lot more chatter about Jeep here than there is about Ford over there.
Current JKU driver. I'm seriously jealous every time I see an LJ, and I think one serious advantage the 2 door Bronco has over the 2 door JL is the LJ-ish relatively generous cargo area. I wish Jeep would've made the JL 2 door basically LJ 2.0.
Not yet, but I'm seriously p!ssed about the royal shi!tshow Jeep has going on with the recall for manual transmission vehicles.
I had just about decided to pull the trigger on a stick Gladiator while I was waiting to see how the inevitable kinks got worked out with the Bronco intro. Instead...
IMO, a cool idea regardless of the manufacturer. Real offroading can be pretty intimidating to folks such as myself whose most serious off-pavement adventures involve forest service roads on the way to a hiking trail.
The ease of flare removal on the Bronco sounds most excellent, especially for those who want to offroad without spending $$$ on aftermarket steel/aluminum flares.
I think that, much like Wranglers, 33s look just about perfect for 2 doors, and 35s for 4 doors. (I currently live with the shame of daily driving a 4 door JK with 33s, haha.)
Hopefully all this cool-sounding MT news won't be followed by a cascade of problems like Jeep is having with the JL/Gladiator. They've got a real sh!tshow underway.
Somewhat disgruntled Jeep owner here. I love my JK, and had tentatively promoted the Gladiator to the top of the list of...
WranglerForum is a good source for Jeep info. (You’ll find me with the same user handle over there.)
Maybe get your Willys now and sell in a year or so if you test drive a Bronco and gotta have one? Jeeps have pretty nice resale values.
No test drives for this guy until a stick shift shows up at my dealer, "mannequin" or regular stock at some point down the road. (Do any other current Ford vehicles share the same manual transmission?)
