When I bought my expedition used, the seller didn't know the code either. Turns out there's a master code printed on the outside of the ECU. Find the ECU (inside passenger kick-panel for my exped), and you can set your own code.

Not a bad idea. The downside would be easy access (by baddies) to open up your garage when your Bronco's top/doors are off.

Agreed. I'd even call it worse than useless on-road. Potentially dangerous in most situations. Try turning a corner on asphalt with a locked diff, and you'll get a new understanding of "Bucking Bronco"!
A four-wheel, locked-diff Bronco burnout would be cool to see though. Hehe.
