  1. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

Yes --- I've been driving manuals (both syncrho and non-synchro) for 40+ years. This is a mechanical issue that needs to be repaired. It feels like hitting a hammer against a steel beam, nothing like the feel of a transmission with gears out-of-synch. Will report back when I have a resolution.
  2. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

Not yet.... I'm waiting to take it in for its first service (including the windshield recall) and I"ll mention it then. It's just a minor annoyance -- solved by putting it in C or 1 and moving forward a smidge; sometimes shifting into 5 then it will go into R. It's certainly not a syncro...
  3. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

This sounds like a different problem. Mine is with the shift lever itself. Once it goes into gear, things are fine. It still happens to me, about once very ten attempts to shift into reverse. I've not had a chance to talk to my dealer's service department yet.
  4. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

This is not the problem I'm encountering. There's a mechanical defect somewhere that is resolved only by moving the vehicle forward a bit. This is an intermittent problem.
  5. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

Thanks, but that's not the problem. The collar lockout works fine. There's something getting in the way of engaging reverse on occasion, once already into the left gate (R/C).
  6. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

Like I said in the original post, I've been driving car, truck, and bus manuals since the 1970s. This is not a normal "put it in another gear than reverse to sync it up" problem. There seems to be a defect. I'm asking if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks!
  7. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

Yes, crawl is fine; moving up from there it hits a hard block north of neutral.
  8. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

No -- it's not that type of problem. It's a hard stop, like a metal plate in the way. Not the normal think you and I are used to dealing with. Sounds like something is out of adjustment.
  9. 7MT - Selecting Reverse

This is my 14th MT vehicle (and I've driven a lot of MT buses and trucks too). Every now and then, my Badlands 7MT won't go into reverse. Pull up on collar, pull left; try to go up and it's like hitting a steel plate. This is different than getting the gear to engage, which is solvable by...
