This! Ford Marketing dictates the vehicle features and lineup. Every single vehicle package is compromised in some way. Heck, even the First Edition doesn't have a Baja mode.
Marketing should just give their customers what they want. Either Good, Better, Best. Not 7 different trim levels. Or...
And drill out the pop rivets holding the badges. RSE isn't paying me to advertise their product. You are left with two tiny holes. Honestly I don't know why they have holes in the steps to begin with. It really should be clean. Something for another day if I feel compelled to body fill and...
I wanted to thank those with the good information they have shared and @rtaylor on the body mount bolts.
1)Body Mount Bolts - I feel like this is a before you begin build 1st page notation that should acknowledge that the body mount bolts and the captured washers should be removed completely...
I'm with you. I'm sure I could do it faster the next go around, but after this install I almost feel like somebody should be paying me to do it all over again. :)
I have a feeling this front plate is purely cosmetic to only cover the pinch weld and make the steps appear continuous thru here. Major pain in the ass to take everything off again. I can't tell what functional purpose it has? It doesn't even follow the contour of the wheel well all that...
Quick photoshop edit.
I love the current design and wish Ford supplied attachments on the outermost portions of the Instrument Panel. There's a lot being asked of that single attachment with that length of rail and the multiple components being added. This isn't ideal, but perhaps the end...
I suspect the BSR is from having a single attachment point for the rail and having touch points on either side of the IP. Before using adhesive, try putting a thin piece of rubber or felt on the two ends of the rail to see if that resolves the sound you are hearing.
That's what I'm getting at. If the purpose is that they go away when the doors close make them go away. Why make them stick out 4-5" from the body. Might as well use the stowed position as a step.
I still like the design. I just think it could be better.
😀 I know, right. The dealership recently did a seal replacement for the leak. I should take a look at that again. Its probably leftover packing material.
I have a feeling it has something to do with the seals on the rear top or that they need to be matched together in production.
An industry term for non bulb seals... muckit's and there's a whole lot of them.
A few images of the top off and where the seals are overlapped on the rear top.
Awesome! Thank you for this. It simply confirms design intent done right.
There have been so many issues with my build. I feel like they just let this one go on a Friday. Everything from misaligned hood, dent in the hood, trim piece and screw rolling around in the trunk, paint defects on...
