A little slice of the Alabama Bronco Society area - you can see the @Mountains2Metal display just beyond The Fat Bear food truck - the cardboard box in the back of the blue Bronco was their Rear Cargo Tray before I installed it the next day. Fantastic product and SO easy to install.
Thanks! Yes, along the base of the windshield (simply push it under the foam that fills the gap to the dashboard). I couldn't find a passage from there to under the dash, so just ran it around the base of the A pillar. From there I removed the handle and side trim and that gives access under...
I looped some metal strap over the top of the column. I made a bracket for the radio then secured the bracket to the strap. Zero drilling, but that's not the only way.
Hey, Dennis. No issues in ~7 months. No tools required - it just pivots down once the clips disengage. The clips are loud, but once you've done it once, it's trivial. In this pic from the service manual, all those purple spots on the back are the clips. I grab just to the left of the column...
Mine finally updated last night (Sept 2021 build). Over the weekend I changed the update schedule from Sunday night at 2 am to every night at 2 am. Don't know if this broke the ice, but it's worth a try if you're waiting...

I liked this one because the PL259 was not soldered on - trimming the coax to my need was trivial. I doubt mine is 4 ft...
An excellent article. It's to create the best possible ground plane for any given body configuration. Since we don't have a metal roof, the hood and chassis floor are the ground plane, but Ford doesn't bond the hood to the chassis. Will it work without? Probably. There is a lot of metal below...
Well, I'm not in the industry so I do what I can. So far, they must not be adding much noise, since my contacts report a perfectly clear signal. Certainly no noise on the receive side, even on fringe areas.
I'm using a NanoVNA. Just fine for my purposes.
Hey, Patrick. The control unit is attached via an aluminum bracket I made from light sheet scrap I had laying around, just wide enough to cover the threaded inserts. I attached to the dash rail with a gunsight mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H3XE18S I ground off the little...

Had to mill out the fastener countersink's to accept 1/4-20 bolts, made outboard supports from scrap 2x4 wood, painted mod's with Rustolium Peel Coat Matte Black.
