Iron needs oxygen to create rust. Any oxygen barrier coating will prevent the rust as long as it sticks around. Even rust will somewhat prevent more rust under the right conditions. That's probably why Ford just sizes a thicker frame or drive shaft section to create a sacraficial layer and...
I noticed the exact same thing this morning while starting up in 20 degF. I thought it was a muffler leak. 'Thank you' to this forum for saving me a service trip.
Do we know if it's the dealership that arranges the shipments? Mine was shipped from MAP on 12/01 (according to Ford email) and has yet to be delivered. When asking the dealer, they said, "it's under Ford's control and we see them when we see them."
Is the smell something other than Cosmoline? This is a rust inhibitor that some manufactures put on the engine parts for shipping. I'm not sure if Ford uses it, but It'll burn off after a few hundred miles.
No one is making money with the vehicles sitting in the yard. There are plenty behind them being shipped, so they've got to move. I work in logistics. I really don't think they're going to sit around for another week. If you own a tractor, the money this week is in delivery to the big box...
Not talking bad, just concerned about the blatant disregard for intellectual property. I see the same craftsman also sells a Volvo keychain stamped HERMES. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not HERMES. That's probably why you don't see them on Amazon.
My destination is Long Beach, and we had similar delivery windows. However, the Ford tracker now has me on the 25th for a delivery estimate (dealership closed). Do you happen to know what date the Ford tracker has for you, @BigKahuna ? I'm operating my own personal sleuther-tracker since I...
My delivery date (on the Ford tracker) slipped from the 17th to 22nd window to the 25th. I suspect it'll be the 26th/27th when it's all done. The SoCal struggle is real.
Congrats! Well, at least Ford removed that stupid little piece of tape that was on the floor under the bumper. That thing had been in almost every assembly line photo. It was really playing on my ADD.
Wow, 300+ miles on a customer ordered vehicle? Dealerships like this give a bad reputation to all of the other decent ones. I wonder if they turned this into a demo vehicle out of spite.
