Man, I wish this were my garage! :) This is our warehouse at work. It takes up a bit of room. I would have used a hoist, but we have a room over the garage and ceiling is not high enough to store the top. It does fit in a corner nicely though.
Built a "Top Dolly" out of old pallets and some scrap plywood. Plan to leave the to off for our vacation to the beach. Turned out pretty good to store the front panels and doors as well.
Nice lift! I do not have the height in my garage to do that, sure wish I could. If I understand your question, you just set the top on top rails, it is secure and long enough to allow the center panel to also sit up there. We through a tarp over it and bungee it tight. Very secure.
