Correct. Some people mistake the setup for an air mattress and want to inflate it. Its a hybrid foam/air mat so it needs to self inflate (or self expand) so as not to ruin the foam or over inflate it. A pump can be used to assist in deflating/suck the air out if desired.

yes, this specific solo mat size requires the seats pulled forward to maximize the sleeping space, which is already limited, for humans. But for dogs, we recommend our leveling mats for 4 runners (21x32) or the 4 dr broncos (21x28)
