  1. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

Only clearance issue I had was with the kick panel speakers. Those can press up against the Ford plastic speaker cover... Need to use low head profile hardware.
  2. Peters Mill Run OHV - First time offroad in the Big Bend

285/70R17.. so roughly 33s. I love them but didn't fully appreciate the fuel economy kick in the nuts that would ensue. Lady bronco went from 21.5 to just shy of 19.

Sweet! And hey, you had better luck with Lex Park Ford than I did.
  4. Peters Mill Run OHV - First time offroad in the Big Bend

Thanks! They are 33s (285/70R17) on wheels with a +30 offset.

@SaveTheManuals agree! I did that trail a couple weeks ago. I posted photos here on 6G. https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/peters-mill-run-ohv-first-time-offroad-in-the-big-bend.28299/

@MrJoe looks like there are a few of the Cactus Gray broncs around now. Someone who works at the office building next to McKays has a Badlands model. I have a big bend. If you see one with RTR black wheels, that's me!
  7. Peters Mill Run OHV - First time offroad in the Big Bend

I keep wondering if bronconians are going to have a standard greeting.. thumbs up? hang loose? the shocker? the bird? finger pistol? fist pump?
  8. Peters Mill Run OHV - First time offroad in the Big Bend

Grabbers did great! As most All Terrain decisions boil down, you are left with KO2s and the Grabbers. General had a $100 rebate, so the choice was made. As far as flinging rocks.. probably about the same as the Goodyears.
  9. Peters Mill Run OHV - First time offroad in the Big Bend

Took the family offroading in the Bronco for the first time on Saturday. Started with a great trail that would ease the kids (three little ladies) into the offroading experience. Peters Mill Run in Virginia is beautiful and didn't disappoint. Stock Broncos can navigate this route without...
  10. AMB Black Diamond Build: 33" Nitto Ridge Grappler tires + 17" RTR satin charcoal. Stock suspension

Did the larger wheel/tire fit on the stock tailgate mount?
  11. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

Agree with the loss of storage space.. definitely a buzz kill. I tried to make mine as compact as possible. There is the potential to put two small 6" subs in the floor storage compartment in the Bronco's trunk area which would be very similar to what is shown in the Jeep video. But again...
  12. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that is not the right connector. In another thread someone identified the right one, but it's just the connector housing, not pinned with pigtails or anything. Also, the connector was apparently quoted at >$70 (I'm assuming because it isn't mass produced on the...
  13. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

If you want to go to town with a Dremel to remove the plugs, I suppose you could, though I'm not certain you'll be able to reuse the wiring coming off the plug. At that point, why bother when you can directly splice? As long as you aren't planning to swap speakers multiple times, it will be...
  14. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

The box I built just holds amp and wires but also serves as a mounting location for the Kicker enclosure. The Kicker has a built in 10" sub. It was perfect for where I mounted everything with the bass vent facing left and the wire hookups on the right...
  15. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

I looked at using what I believe is the Lux sub location. #1, that spot probably doesn't fit more than one 8" sub at most. #2 the geometry in that location is very complex and space is limited. I'm guessing Ford has a custom molded plastic insert for the lux sub that wasn't in the cards for...
  16. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

After a few weeks of daily driving, I've determined that a simple speaker upgrade will not cut it with the base stereo head unit. With the top down and volume up, there is far too much loss in sound quality. So I scratched my plan to upgrade rears with 6x9s because an amplifier and sub was...
  17. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

Haven't decided how to tackle the kick panel speakers yet, since as you noted, those are a bit less intolerable due to the poly cone (vice paper). My next endeavour is likely to be to design a rollbar mount to secure 6x9 speakers, replacing the 4s and giving a little bass boost to avoid a...
  18. Level-Up the Symphony (yeah.. speakers) -- swapping dashboard speakers with some JL Audio C2-400x speakers

Dash speakers can be replaced by just removing the perforated speaker cover. They can be tricky to pop off so you'll need to start with a very thin panel removal tool. Kick panel speakers require the whole panel to come off.
