If we are talking about the 3.0 PowerStroke, I don't think I'd characterize it as "a bunch". But, just like anything else, some people have had problems. I think the official line is that they discontinued the diesel because of low sales, but who knows.
So, I edited my first reply because after re-reading it I sounded like a jerk. Looks like you replied pre-edit, so... sorry about that.
My original point was that I would rather have the additional height of the alternator on the 2.3 if I'm going through water for the sake of the charging...
It's not a "myth" that submerging your alternator can carry in mud and debris that cause it to stop charging these very electronic dependant vehicles.
The alternator is higher off the ground on the 2.3, that is a fact. If I'm driving through water, I would prefer that my alternator stay out of...
The 2.3 has plenty of power... I was very pleasantly surprised with mine, even with the Sasquatch package.
Also, If you plan on having to do any water fording, the 2.3 is a better choice.
2.7 on the left, 2.3 on the right.
No concerns, it's nothing like Armorall.
I started using it on the black plastic saddlebag mounting rails on my BMW motorcycle, it brought them back to life and doesn't need to be continually applied.
Chemical Guys VRP. Great for all interior and exterior applications, no greasy residue, kind of a satiny shine, and it lasts. I bought it initially to remove the spots on my fender flares, it's an awesome product. I also use it to keep all the rubber around my door, window and top seals...
Another option (that doesn't require sewing) would be to assemble the straps with a couple Double Cap Rivets at each connection. They just press together and seat without the need of any special tools... just a light hammer tap. They are also widely available at craft/hobby stores in many...
My wife's Subaru got Moo'd the other day at the grocery store, do yourself a favor and don't look up "Moo Moo Subaru". I swear, I don't know who comes up with this stuff.
Thanks. Actually, I just bought the supplies (in the pic below) at Hobby Lobby, it's all 1". The two additional plastic D-rings I used were from an old backpack. I ended up only needing about 20" of the webbing.
I got the black Ford MOLLE pouch set to use in my BaseSquatch. I found the pouches to be very useful and great quality, but didn't have a good location for the large one (without the MOLLE attachment system) that is modeled after the USMC magazine dump pouch.
I bought about $4 worth of...
A lot of people are just emotionally fragile these days. They get their self-worth from what they drive, how expensive their house is, what model phone they have, etc.
When you decide to drive something that "challenges" their egos, they get triggered and lash out like toddlers.
Can't...
I'd probably get a wave washer of the appropriate size and make a single cut in one side so I could slip it over the rivet.
Or, using a C-Clamp as a crimping device, close the gap.
Just not a fan of mounting anything that blocks air flow in the red "High Risk" area detailed in the Bronco Cooling Considerations section of the Bronco Equipment Installation Guide.
I'm not justifing trim falling off, but it's just not a 70k (build quality) vehicle, sorry. It's a 35k standard utility vehicle.
That's how it was designed, and that's how it's manufactured. Just because people choose to add 35k of cool badges, plastic (sorry, MGV) seats, and extra...
@Figmo is right.
The two top corners, where the struts are mounted, seem to be where the blowouts originated... you even still have a little "mountain" of glass in the middle.
Never heard of struts causing damage like this, but given the patten of the shatter and the direction of the broken...
