Without pictures, this sounds like it's mimicking the reflection of pushing the little tab toward the windshield on a rear view mirror. If so, that's a nice feature.
I usually push the RVM tab forward at night to dim the brightness of headlights behind me while driving.

Take a look at the you tube channels on changing the 6G Bronco's oil. You'd be surprised how easy it is. Takes me 5-10 minutes to unscrew bash plate bolts, release plug, lift hood then unscrew oil filter..
Takes an hour or so for the 2.7, I've let it sit overnight before.. then new filter...
I found it's easier for me to drain the oil out with this plug. Unscrew the plug's cap and it will drain. I don't need to replace the plug and o-rings each time with the current setup.

IIRC there's a metal plate covering the oil pan & plug itself, so the plug isn't exposed.
I was forewarned that the oil flies out, I bought an oversized pan to catch the oil.
