There is plenty of debate (just search this forum for comments going back and forth) but E rated tires are heavier, thicker and meant to handle heavy loads. Some like that for durability off-road (sharp rocks) but the weight and stiffness are likely to impact ride quality, noise and fuel economy.
Tirerack has them and Discount Tire can get them if they are willing to call their Continental/General rep.
It took a couple of calls to my local DT, even though DT owns Tirerack now.
So I just had Discount Tire install them on my OBX in 275/70/18 and they have been good around town. Quiet thus far (the Bronco overall is noisy so who knows). C load so very light for the size. Only C load all terrain I could find in the size. BTW they aren’t even on DT’s website yet (C load...
Discount Tire gave me a small credit for mine (4 with 6k miles, 1 with none). My dealer wouldn’t give me a credit even when new. I would call your dealer and local tire shop and ask - Discount Tire gave me the most (but only $200)
BTW I went w General Grabber ATX in 275/70/18 in passenger...
Yes. I like the LOD signature but still working out the dimensions vs the others. Those might not be enough step for your needs. Still prototypes as well.
That’s my initial take but don’t have the install instructions for the Shrockworks BUT I have seen posts where it is 7 body mount bolts and 1 bolt that needs to be drilled.
I installed a 4 rod version on my OBX 4 door. Works quite well. It is very stable. There is more wind noise for sure, but with a Bronco what is more wind noise?
Bottom line - very functional and protective of my strung up fly rods.
The reel box is plastic as are the pillars FYI. I am...
I have a nonSAS OBX that spends a lot of time on gravel roads, dirt roads, and very muddy rutted boat ramps for fly fishing purposes.
The pics I have seen on both look good, but I am concerned about the dimensions of the Zroadz (too wide for a nonSAS).
I like how the Zroadz hides the pinch...
Has anyone tried any sort of mudflap with these? Never used them before but when I take my bronco fishing and go through mud and ruts I throw a tremendous amount of dirt up on my sidesteps, doors, and bumpers.
Installed on regular (plastic) bumper on OBX with Lux package. Well built. Works well. For the Lux package there probably aren't too many locations that will work well; this one does but you may need to remove the plate to use the recovery point on that side. BTW, Builtright has been very...
I have seen multiple posts with “wait for all the takeoffs” but I see way more looking than offering them.
My dealer says (I know, I know) they don’t know if they could order them for me, but perhaps we should just order them and see if they come.
Does any of our fine dealer community know if...
I love how your dealer and a few others seems to provide solutions. My dealer tells me to call 4 wheel parts or to look for tires elsewhere. Every question about wheels, tires, level kit is answered by “we will have to get back to you on that” or “I’m not sure we do that”.
You are correct that car inflation has been quite low for the past 20 years, but overall inflation has been very very low as well by historical standards. The steel pricing you reference is very recent but very real. (And may show up in car pricing later)
I suspect that this design which is...
