Fixed.
Thanks for all the input and mostly agreeing that the design isn't great (for oem) and that I'm not just too picky.
I like the plates. Just frustrated with the lack of this description and then with the response from ARB.
I figured that this post would help anyone know what they are...
Yup. Dropped my plate off yesterday after ARB wouldn't take the return because I don't have a brake to bend it.
Did you have to cut anything or was the bend enough to clear everything? Steel bumper?
I don't think I'm trying to Frankenstein anything. I bought the skid plates thinking they fit decently with the factory equipment; mostly because it doesn't mention the need to mate up with the ARB bumper or the gap that they apparently expect to be there or that they plate will stick out from...
It looks like the gap is 2-3 inches with the plastic bumper. Your fix makes it look a lot better though. There's no way these plates are meant to install with either factory bumper-I don't care what the dude from ARB says.
Yeah. The ARB plates are one of the cheaper options, but still not cheap. The matching bumper is more than twice the cost of the entire skid plate set. I would have happily bought a transition plate or trim piece if it were an option.
It might, but the ARB bumper looks ridiculous. It's massive and I don't get into anything that requires a bumper like that. I'm not into buying stuff that won't get any use.
So, here's the bummer-I put three bolts in (only the front plate) to see what it looked like and ARB says that I can't return it because it's been "installed". The dude was kind of crappy about the whole thing. Pretty disappointed with the whole situation, honestly. It kind of surprised me...
Lol. I get what your saying and yeah, after a couple trail runs, is going to be banged up, but realistically, the top lip is going to bend out even more after a few good hits. It's also basically a shovel...
So I just installed the ARB skid plates and I'm not impressed. The quality seems fine, but the fitment and final look is terrible.
I reached out to ARB just to make sure I didn't get the wrong plates or somehow installed them wrong. According to ARB, everything is in correctly and this is look...
Gotcha. Thanks for the reply. I hate to start a new thread to try to compile the info, but I wonder if it would help...
I'm not having any particular issue, just curious of what all can be done.
