you'll have a sticker in your engine bay that has the build date of the engine only coded into it. Also, you should get emails on other side of production so while not an exact day it will give you the actual build week. Engine sticker explanation here...
Yes, I was on that train of thought, too, earlier - it's been a long thread! I have been trying to keep an open mind and think through the "what's next?" more from my or our point of view. That's really all we can control, not the manufacturer. But we sure can influence them when/if we want.
I...
I'm really starting to think this is the only meaningful recourse if we're not happy at some point with the response - get someone in this group to take one apart and document it thoroughly, videos + pictures + writeup somewhere. Still not convinced that is necessary but let's wait another month...
I'm not trying to be a dick with this comment, but you've spent a lot of time on this thread so you know the score. I really don't think you are going to get the definitive answers you're looking for in the timeframe you want.
So why pay that monthly bill? Maybe sell your vehicle and get back...
Financially a full recall just doesn't make sense unless Ford already believes a huge percentage will fail.
By definition, there are 2 orders of magnitude difference at 1% replacement (fixing broken) vs. 100 % replacement (recall). This is just an example - no one knows the true failure...
Thanks for posting. Following up on this post was on my to do list today. My coolant is just under min, not quite as bad as others but still technically should be filled considering the cold recommendation in the manual.
I’m not picking on anyone but I think we are making a mistake talking about failure rates. Rate is defined as units per time. Failure percentage is a fair definition for what we have been talking about.
number of engines per mile or per time are different ways to measure rate as well. Failure...
Trending that way based on experience of people with last several failures. There’s some discussion back in the thread about a “backorder”, production hold, or redesign, potentially all referencing the same situation. Engines for repairs and new builds potentially not forthcoming but people are...
Nice post. I think people are processing all of this differently (humor, anger, disbelief, fear, seeking more info) and that's expected. I'm finding the discussion between the data interesting as I try to figure out what I want to do myself.
To your last point, very good one, and that's why...
one failure analysis article, detailed pictures included, would be absolutely brutal. with the power of the ol' interweb, probably wouldn't even need to be hosted by a prominent source. certified 3rd party lab and one respected independent reviewer = ouch
Correct. And either they start talking soon or some independent work needs to be done. I hang out all day with people that do failure analyses, FMECAs, root cause, etc. The mechanical and materials science part doesn’t sound like it will be too difficult. It’s being able to do it without costing...
someone joked about a dropped valve in the responses. maybe it didn't drop yet but is struggling. would be worthwhile to have them all checked considering: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/2-7l-blown-engine-fail-list-28-so-far-jan-19-update.31951/
If you do have a faulty valve or other...
