Don't convert to a low level. You can run hi level right into the amp. I used the Key 500.1 tone setup but axed it. I set it up to my ears. The output was too low using the setup method so I turned it up a hair. These are my settings and my sub sounds killer. Added some poly and sealed the port.
This speaker was used. Also, make sure you seal the port based on the speaker specs and add a little polyfil. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20648CR84/Kicker-48CWR84.html
I did this and I am very happy. It is a convertible so I am not expecting this to sound like a car.

Update on my sub.
So I did an A/B with my modified OEM Sub box using a Kicker 48CWR84 Sub (using a Kicker Key 500.1) and a 10" JL Audio wedge sub. I did this because I had a 10" JL Stealth Box (custom for the Ford Bronco) on order. Since these take a while, I thought, why not A/B my 10" JL...
I have the Kicker 48CWR84 and added the Kicker Key 500.1 with the port left open. It sounded great. Last week I closed off the port (epoxy) and night and day now! The Kicker 48CWR84 is meant to be in a sealed box. The factory box is around .4 cu. ft so as you can see from the Kicker specs, the...
It is just based on the specs of the Kicker. Whatever sounds best to you, awesome. I also kicked up the gain on the Key 500.1 and threw out the gain setup by the kicker sound setup.
With the Kicker speaker as used in this setup, the port must remain open to due the specs on it. I used a little polyfil and it sounded a little bit better. I am now going with with the
JL Audio 8w3v3-4 from this link. Will see how much better it is than the kicker. I must close the port for...
Thanks! I have an older version of WinISD and it does not list this speaker. Oh well! I am switching out the Kicker 48CWR84 (vented as of now) to use the
JL Audio 8w3v3-4 in the OEM Sub box BUT will seal the port.
Hopefully some improvements. I am running the Kicker Key 500.1
Thanks!
