Ours will pull family duty so the Tacoma is on the same page as the Ranger, back seat is a little small and an SUV works better for throwing the dog and gear in (not to mention groceries lmao). My wife would prefer a manual and so would I but its not a hard stop.
I have a hard time coming up with a plan B for this thing. Even with the couple specs that are "confirmed" I dont think Id be as happy with something else. But because quarantine heres my thoughts about some of the competition (new cars only)

Hit the nail on the head here, instant gratification and all that, people somehow feel theyre entitled to a release right now. I wont pretend not to be a little frustrated, but given the current climate what exactly do yall expect? I wont be in a position to buy until Jan-Feb next year anyway...
The 270hp/310tq 2.3T should be plenty peppy given they dont neuter it with highway gear ratios like the 3.21s found in the Jeep JL. My 14 Explorer with the 3.5 Duratec has 290hp/255tq and ive never thought gee, i wish this was faster, it has plenty of power on tap. Theres more to it than raw hp...
Im David, been a gearhead as long as I can remember. Im 30 years old and have had 31 cars since I turned 16, I like to buy, tinker, upgrade and flip em so I guess you could call it a hobby lol. I was a military brat, my pops did 30 years enlisted in the Air Force, ended up retiring in 2009 in...

We were an all Ford family until i found rusted rockers under my 7.3 f-350, enter the LBZ. A 4 door m/t bronco will replace the Explorer
Price is the big one. If they can compete with Jeep and keep a m/t 4 door with minimal options in the low-mid 30s im in. Plenty of 2020 6 speed JLUs around me for ~$33k.
Second will be power, but the 2.3T with a manual behind it hardly gives me pause. With decent gearing 275ish hp is plenty.
If I can get into a 4 door XL with a manual and the 2.3T for $35k I'll be in like flynn and let the aftermarket handle the cool goodies.
Only options id spring for are the v6 if its reasonable and steeper gears with a locker if it doesnt require an appearance package
