I went to a PNW event in January and took it as an opportunity to drive something a little different. I ordered a 4D auto V6 BD but drove a 2D manual BD. Gotta be honest, I have some manual regret, but found the BD to be amazingly capable- beyond anything I will actually do.
I delayed my order because of the roof issues. I could have taken delivery of a soft top and waited for the hard top later, but thought it would be win-win to wait. Built and rotting now.
Much of the frustration over ice mountain could have been prevented with one change. What if your order was tied to a build configuration and not a specific VIN? If you are first in line for a particular build, you get the next one available to ship. Most of us don't have unicorn configurations...
Hmmm, I parked near a Cactus Grey one a few weeks ago at the Sleeping Giant trailhead. I also spotted a red one at the Ford dealer near the airport.
To the owner: sorry my wife's backpack brushed your side mirror. I sighed heavily, FWIW.
My initial preference was the unavailable 2.3 Manual BD Mid Package. I had to think about how badly I wanted the manual, and came to realize it is MIC, which didn't sit well with me. At that point I just "went for it" and got the 2.7.
That said, I drove a 2.3 manual at an off road event last...
