For anyone having this same issue, it is a plastic ball bouncing inside the check valve for the PCV breather. Perfectly normal characteristic of this engine.
Old thread, but for anyone reading this, be SURE to change idler pulleys if you get stuck in the water. My Badlands was making a strange noise after being stuck in the water and I finally found the tensioner pulley bad. It was a slight whine at idle that i had attributed to the transmission...
Word of caution: the water WILL ruin your bearings. Replacing my idler bearings soon, because I finally isolated the funny noise that appeared shortly after the alternator TSB. She was stuck in the water for a minute before being pulled out.
I know this is an old thread, but i had almost the exact same story; except me and the dealer couldn't tell where the noise was coming from after the dealer performed the TSB on the alternator. I finally used a pipe and isolated the source. My tensioner pulley was making some suspect noises so I...
I have the badlands 2.7 auto / without sasaquatch... There was really no point in going with sasquatch, because it would only give me 35s with no other features. (The current ones are 33s.) Also, thanks man!
I finally had the honor of picking up my new bronco badlands a few weeks ago!
First thing I did was get rid of those ugly oem pavement-princess wheels, and go back to retro. What do you guys think?
I just did, thanks for sharing! Unfortunately it didn't have the specific information that I am looking for, but it did have a lot of great information and was a good read!
Hello all! I'm hoping one of you fine people can help me settle a debate as quick as possible:
I posted a separate thread to provide some information about gearing. One of the responding members disagreed with me about a small detail of my post. I said the vehicle measures speed via the Vehicle...
You can test all you want by "unplugging the abs sensors." Without them, the computer won't have any ABS input, therefore it assumes the vehicle is not moving regardless of what the VSS is reading so it may not report a speed.
However, they are both integrated and therefore cannot work...
Thanks for the compliment, and you are absolutely right! People always tend to get caught up in small details, and find something to argue over.😂
This post had one purpose, and I'm glad you and many others understand it.
Of course it's not going to work, it's an integral part of the system. It will set off all kinds of faults...
Your manual transmission still has an output shaft, and does have the part I referenced.... Check it by VIN if you don't believe me.
Slippage is measured by the ABS sensors, speed is...
It is not done via abs. ABS tells the vehicle which wheels are rotating, and which ones aren't. Not how fast the vehicle is going. That value is measured from the driveshaft or rear differential. The inputs are then put together and translated to determine the vehicles speed.
If there is no speed sensor, how does the vehicle know how fast you are going? It's not done by GPS or ABS sensors, so there IS a speed sensor somewhere.
