In my experience the first 1000 or 2 miles returns poor mileage for any new vehicle. Would be interesting to compare early results to similar test after 5 or 10k miles…
I’m about to find out. My bronco arrived at the dealership yesterday, I’ll bring it home next week. My daily driver since 2016 is a Focus ST. It’s a fun little car, zoomy!
Intermittent electrical bugaboos are the worst. My son is a mechanic at a dealership and if they can’t reproduce the problem they’re stuck with guessing. Wiggling the wires might find the problem but only if it’s a connection issue. Anything internal to the module or some similar electrical...
That’s excellent! Thx for the link. I haven’t had any luck finding a hose reel for under the spare tire mount. I’ll broadcast it if I can find one….
That first tank of fuel is not a good baseline. In my experience all new motors get worse mileage in the first 1 or 2k miles due to the break-in period.
It will deal with heat better if it’s inside the cab & clean. I live on a dusty dirt road and mounting it outside will keep the pump filthy. I’d like someone to engineer a hose reel for under the spare, and a bracket to mount the pump inside the cab.
Maybe it’s not practical, but thinking about...
This is awesome but I’m worried abt the dirt & water & weather. Howsabout mounting it inside the gate to feed a hose reel under the spare tire? Just enough hose to reach the front tires….
The winter tires vent the water quite well as they are designed to vent slush. Many summer tires I see don’t have the pattern to manage much water. I know I’m far more likely to hydroplane in my summer tires in my focus. So this isn’t about rubber compounds, it’s about the geometry of the tread...
I had a discussion with a tire engineer recently. He insists there’s no such thing as a quality all-season tire. The rubber can be optimized for 110f or -10f, not both. There’s no rubber recipe for good performance across a 100+ degree temp range. He runs different summer & winter tires on his...
