Front Axle Disconnect: A device that splits the front axle shaft into 2 pieces so the differential is no longer back-driven by the front wheels while in 2wd mode.
It helps with fuel economy at the detriment of another electrical component that might fail at an inopportune time.
I have them run off the accessory power, with 5A in-line fuses wired before the 20A rocker switches; blown fuse means switch won't light up thus giving visual indication there's no locking happening. 😉
Not sure where you came up with manual base from? I have a slush box Big Bend with Mid...

I bought a case of the stock filters when I bought the truck. Anything that'll fit on the filter mount could theoretically be used. You'd just need to mount it such that it's not vulnerable to trail damage.
The beauty of DIY is you can choose any filter mount your heart desires.
New seal finally came today and removal of the yoke revealed that the Bars Leaks was doing it's job after 2 applications - there was a "band" of sealer material deposited at the sealing surface on the yoke.
There was no damage or any evidence of improper or poor manufacturing. The seal surface...
Generally, it should be easy. You need a 3-jaw puller to remove the "yoke" (which is flange shaped on these CV joints) after removing the pinion nut.
Once the yoke is off, the seal is just pressed into the diff housing. Use a screw driver or pry bar to extract it, clean the housing off, then...
FedSux has been sitting on my seal all weekend, and we have a big storm coming tomorrow when it "should be" on the truck driving up 4 hours from the MPLS hub. They already changed it's delivery from tomorrow to Tuesday, and now God only knows when I'll see it. 🙄
Thankfully, despite peeing...
I was looking at the SEMA video where the Dana rep was talking about how they reduced seal pressure to reduce drag to increase fuel economy as part of the Advantek changes and that might be the culprit here. There does seem to be a part number change on the seals as well.
Combine that with the...
I'm guessing the yoke flange was not machined to the correct surface finish and is eating the seals.
My m210 was bought via CJ Pony Parts as a Ford Performance part and they're saying I have zero warranty on it.
Add me to the list of 10Kmi seal failures.
I was able to order a Spicer seal from...
They were a little stiff going on, but haven't posed any issues to date.
Ford didn't have anything available last Summer when I did mine, so I was left to what I could cobble out of the myriad connectors in existence.
All is good with the exception of the front pinion seal leaking and my dealer refusing to handle it under warranty.
My new seal will be here Monday, so I'll get to find out what caused the issue in a mere 10k miles and why Ford is replacing whole 3rd members instead of just doing the seal...
Got my antenna mount made for the tire swingarm and discovered it's now 4" taller than the garage door. This, while already missing the top whip section. 🤦🏻♂️🤣
Oh well, that's why the base has a quick threaded hinge to fold it with.
