Also finally received my conductor and installed it in the window switch panel. BA 39mm step bit and a little tweaking and it fits like it belongs there…
Still chipping away at it. Got the Helix Bluetooth module installed, but the antenna doesn’t fit. Simple solution is use a coax extension and 3d-print some antenna mounting brackets. Antenna will get remote mounted once the amps are in place in the vehicle.
The next piece of the puzzle is converting the low voltage turn-on signal to 12v, which is exactly what the PAC TR4 is designed to do.
Everything I need to connect to is in the big, brown connector: 6v signal, 12v constant, and ground. After removing the unnecessary wires (and switching a...
The signal I need is in the big, brown connector that plugs into the factory sub amp. I capitalized on the fact that Ford uses the same connectors across multiple models and found an adapter for a Mustang that fits perfectly.
Unfortunately, the connector is otherwise very difficult to find (and...
Thanks a lot! Still chipping away at it.
Since I’ll be using the add-on Bluetooth module available for the V8, I will need a remote turn-on (signal sensing turn-on only works with the factory head unit’s speaker input).
Instead of running a little blue wire all the way up to the fuse panel, I...
Another little something I’m working on. Since this Bronco is not (and never was) B&O, it will have Audiofrog badges on the dash grilles. Mocked-up for now, still have to figure out a permanent mounting solution.
Yes, I’d be happy to print more adapters once I’ve tested fit with the actual speakers. No feedback on how it sounds yet, but hopefully soon (waiting on all of the brown boxes to show up).
Your plan sounds good, though you might lose some of the midrange tones under the dash with only tweeters...
Working on integrating the Helix Conductor, which is an all-in-one LED-lit knob that will control master volume, bass level, rear fill level, Bluetooth functions, tune switching, etc.
I think I am mostly settled on putting it in the lower blank of my 2-door window switch, but not completely...
Audio Control is nice stuff, too. I wanted more channels than they offer and was able to get a good deal on the V8. Closest thing I know to “plug and play” DSP is the Mobridge setup, which installs with to the factory harnesses, bolts in place of the B&O amp, and comes with a baseline tune...
…and a couple of “installed” pictures that show what it would look like in the cabin:
@flip Are you able to pull the part number for the 2-door window switch bezel? My Google-fu is failing me. If we go poking holes in these, it will be nice to have a replacement on hand. Thanks in advance.
@John P. I removed this switch panel today to test if the Conductor will fit. I am happy to report that installing it here will only affect the trim panel and not require any modification of the switch mechanism itself. There is almost 22mm of space behind the trim panel and the Conductor...
Thanks! No, I wish it did. I have waaaaay more time in wiring this thing up than I planned, haha
Appreciate it! I hope it sounds as good IRL as it does in my head
…and the stereo T-harness I finished today. DT connectors used here as well, because why not? This will send the factory head unit signal to the V8 and then return the corrected/amplified signal back to the tweeters and rear fill through the factory speaker wiring. 2.5 mids and 6.5 midbass will...
